Pros:
It eventually ended.

Cons:
everything

A few years ago, I caught about 15 minutes of this movie and that was quite enough for me. Unfortunately, one of my friends has a copy of this movie and wanted to watch it the other night. I rolled my eyes and prepared to fall asleep on her couch. Well, I didn t fall asleep because she was laughing to hard, so I was subjected to the whole movie. Ugh! It's a good thing I know she is on pain medication and thinks anything is funny right now or I would have to question her intelligence. She owes me big time!

Jason Mewes Jay
Kevin Smith Silent Bob
Ben Affleck Holden McNeil
Jeff Anderson Randal Graves
Brian O Halloran Dante Hicks
Will Ferrell Wildlife Marshall
Shannon Elizabeth Justice
Eliza Dushku Sissy
Ali Larter Chrissy
Jennifer Schwalbach Missy
Jason Lee Brodie Bruce
Seann William Scott Brent

The premise of this movie is very simple. A comic book adaptation is on the big screen and based on two guys, but they receive no compensation for it. So what they attempt to do is ruin the filming by traveling from New Jersey to California.

Two babies are left in front of a convenience store. The boys grow up, Jay and Silent Bob, and it s obvious that they are not right at all. They obviously like to hang out in front of the convenience store that they were left at but the clerk apparently doesn t like it because he calls the cops.

Hi, I m Jay and this is my hetero-life partner, Silent Bob. Jay

Jay and Silent Bob discover that a movie being filmed is based on their lives (don t ask me why). They find their way to Holden McNeil s office to find out where their royalties are. Unfortunately, they aren t getting anything for the movie. They also discover that the movie is being boycotted and decide to try and stop the movie from being filmed so that their names do not get trashed on the Internet.

That s what the Internet is for, slandering others anonymously. Banky

With no us money available, they hitchhike their way to Hollywood. Jay and Silent Bob get picked up by four girls and a guy. Jay gets Brent kicked out of the group. It seems that the girls are thieves and decide to use Jay and Silent Bob. The girls end up getting away and Jay and Silent Bob end up on the run from the cops.

Jay and Silent Bob make it to Hollywood and the Miramax studios, but will they be able to stop the filming?

While I realize that again I am not with the majority on this movie, I have no problem stating that I really did not enjoy this movie. One thing that upset me the most was the fact that the word f*ck is used way too much. I can understand a little cussing here and there but this movie was just plain ridiculous. Another thing is that I couldn t see a point to Jay and Silent Bob. The movie just seems to make fun of actors and movies, and the ending just falls flat instead of wrapping up the whole mess. That is not interesting or thrilling in my opinion. Another drawback is that you have to have seen some of Smith s other movies to completely understand some of the inside jokes that are told in this movie.

The performances were marginal if that s a good enough word. The script was ridiculous so the actors didn t have much of anything to work with. But I still cannot say that any of the characters seemed to even try to make their roles watchable. I cannot say that I ve ever seen Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith in any other film so cannot comment on their performances based on past experience. I can say that I am used to seeing Will Ferrell act like an idiot so expected nothing less.

I was surprised with Ben Affleck s character in this movie because he usually picks better roles. I guess everyone has something in their past that they would like to keep behind them. I was also upset to see Ali Larter and Eliza Dushku in this movie, despite having smaller roles. I am a faithful watcher of Tru Calling and enjoyed Dushku s performance in Bring It On despite the movie being a little on the silly side.

The soundtrack for this movie is nothing to be interested in. The extra features include: audio commentary with director Kevin Smith, producer Scott Mosier and Jason Mewes, deleted scenes, a gag reel, internet trailers, a still gallery, a storyboard, behind the scenes featurette, the Afroman I Got High: music video, the Stroke 9 Kick Some A** music video, and Comedy Central s reel comedy Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back .

Most of the supposed humor was just plain unappealing in my opinion, but I can see how it might appeal to teenage boys for instance (not to propose a stereotype or anything). I do have a sense a humor and can get into good slapstick comedy movies, but this one just didn t cut it for me. In my opinion, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back lacks humor and a plot (which was totally lame). The whole thing (stupid jokes and all) just really drags because of the stoned-like performances of some of the cast, which really contributes to the incredibly mindless movie that was produced. I m sorry, but there is nothing to recommend it.

~ Happy Watching!
