There are many advantages to reading this book and preparing for your ride. Never again will you face that downhill "rollercoaster" and hope your brakes are up to it! Never again will you despair of ever getting the shop guy to properly adjust your seat so it's comfortable, rather than "where it's supposed to be". This is the best $18 you can spend if you want to be smart and ready to ride hard!

The book is very informative and a must have to any bicycle enthusiast or repair mechanic. Makes the advanced troubleshooting easy to understand without having a dictionary to explain the terminology. This is only the 2nd book I have ever bought on bicycles and so far it getting better with each purchase on ebay.

great book, great illustration, great step by-step instructions, and a personality as well. a self-help book that is not dry and informational is a great find, and this one would be worth reading even if you didn't bike... it's that good.

What can I say that Zinn doesn't. I have been the the BMW driver for far too long alla Zen and the Art of Motorcycle... Buy this book and read. Then re read for the passion of reading. Putting practice into life motions will only make you that more confident.

It's a really good mountain bike repair book

I bought this book as a reference for maintaining and repairing my mountain bike. It is very informative; easy to read; has lots of pictures. It also covers every aspect of the bike. I'd say it is one of the best repair books for mountain bikes available. A+

Zinn has what you are seeking in mt. bike maintenance
Review created: 01/19/08

Great book, lots of quality illustrations, divided into sections of how to for seemingly every situation about mountain bikes including how to buy the right size frame in a new bike. Features hints and plain language dealing with beginner to racer. This is a grate reference book to have on hand when dealing with old and new bikes. Zinn has a way of writing that makes understanding complex issues easier...taking one step at a time to success in setting up a bike for a long run or just checking to see if your bike is ready and safe to rider around the block. May not please the professional...but for almost everybody else this is a must have if you own a mountian bike.

  Zinn's books
Review created: 04/13/07

I checked a lot of bike maintenance books from the library and looked at many at the bookstore. I found the ones by Zinn to be the most useful(he also has one on Road Bike Maintenance). The drawings are easier to follow than photos and the language is clear and straightforward. In checking reviews on some of the bike forums I found comments suggesting that his books were not quite technical or advanced enough to be useful for more advanced riders. However, I wonder if you need a guide like this if you are at that level. The negative comments seemed more bike snobbery and oneupmanship than valid criticisms of the books.
