Zenki Volume 3 lacking

Okay, Zenki volume 1 and 2 were great with quality old-school animation and anime quirkiness which made much of anime what it is today. Volume 3 continues the exploits of the oddball characters as they fight would-be weak re-incarnations of the tree of evil Zenki and friends defeated in Zenki volume 2.
The group overall reminds me of Inuyasha, with the two main characters being a shrine priestess and an uncouth super-strong demon boy. They run around killing the "demons" collecting the seeds of evil, hopefully destroying them all before something bad happens.
The only issues I had with Zenki volume 3 is that it drags on with an enemy that they've already killed once, and introduces new characters which seem overly under-developed. Zenki also combines with one of the new characters to form a super-Zenki with ultra ultimate powers of justice... so all in all this season overall reminds me of DragonballZ where plots meander, and character just keep getting stronger until it's rediculous.
The second "Zenki" type character is on the cover, and reminds me of a lap-dog version of Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho... He's way too obedient and nice...
If none of this bothers you, and you can't get enough of Zenki after volumes 1 and 2, then I recommend this volume to you.
