FINALLY!

The boys are back!
Old and new fans will definitely like something off of this cd!
It took 2 listens for me to really appreciate ALL of it,
and I actually went to school with Billy.
No Shiznit!

Of course, everyone will agree, Doomsday Clock, and Tarantula and 13 more songs just like those 2, would be the perfect album.
You have to be open minded w/this album.
There is a very RAW sound at times, and a very TRIPPY sound at times.
Whatever you're not sure about will sound better the 2nd time.
Alot of different sounds on here.
The chorus of We Are Starz sounded pretty Generic (kinda weird)
the first time I listened to it.
Now, I actually love that song.

You will not be disappointed with this cd!!!
The silver copy has a dvd and 15 songs!!!
Holy Shiznit! That's Friggen Awesome!
BUY THIS NOW!
Take my advice, If there is a coupla songs you're not to sure of
because of what you are used to...
Listen 1 or 2 more times!
Hey, Check out "United States"...
THE ULTIMATE TRIPPY, HEAVY, NEVER ENDING, JAM SESSION!
This is music that no one in the world makes anymore.
Billy and the boys can get away with it and it sounds F-ing COOL!
Ya gotta check out the guitar in Pomp and Circumstances
Almost Purple Rain-ish. Simple, but beautiful!

If you dont like it,
Billy wil give you a Full Money Back Guarantee!!!
LOL!

Do yourself and your cd collection a favor...
Celebrate the return of the Smashing Pumpkins!
5 stars!!!

  This rocks like Machina....

It took me a couple listens, but since I've gotten into this disc I can't stop listening to it. The album features beautiful melodies that show the real sounds behind the Smashing Pumpkins has always been Billy's guitar and vocals along with Jimmy's signature drums. If you didn't read the liner notes you wouldn't even know D'arcy and James weren't in the studio with them. My personal favorites are "That's The Way (My Love is)" and "Come On, Let's Go!", but every song will take you back to a time in the Pumpkins' history. Even a couple songs are reminiscent of Gish and pre-Gish works....just check out "Starz" and "Neverlost" and you might think it's 1991 again.

Kudos to Billy and Jimmy for taking us back to the Pumpkins rock. No, it's not Siamese Dream, but do you really want to spend the rest of your life listening to the same album? Pick this one up...you will be rewarded.

  Zeitgeist first Impression
Review created: 04/13/09

Good pumpkins evolution disc..redemption with lost fans I don't know..really a good hard edged driving beats with basal riffs kind of rock associated with the pumpkins backed by Corgan's hollow haunting vocalizations..I don't feel it produced any future for the group as I have not heard of any current projects, but it fits in the body of work they have left with us..A good effort to evolve not just regurgitate what has worked in the past..

  Ok Overall
Review created: 01/02/09

I really like the SP and was excited about them, or some of them, releasing a new album. I finally got a hold of it and listened to it. I only listened to the cd 1 time, it usually takes me a while to warm up to cds, I thought the cd was ok. Not that much like their older stuff, some of it was good, other stuff was merely ok. I am sure this will grow on me after a few more times. I would still recommend this cd.

Not the Smashing Pumpkins that I knew
Review created: 06/04/08(updated 06/04/08)

First let me say that I am a HUGE Smashing Pumpkin fan. I have everything that they ever made. I even ran to get the box set when it came out, so I know their work. This just doesn't measure up. It does not have the catchy tunes that stick in your head even after you are sick of singing them. In fact none of the songs made me want to learn the words. The songs are just not very memorable. They aren't very bad, but you won't hear these songs played over and over on the radio. You will not see them win any awards for this. I may be wrong, but I doubt if they will get any great recognition for this CD. It's just not that good. It is one of those CDs that you have got to listen to before you buy it. A lot of the songs are the ones that you usually would skip to get to the really good stuff. I do agree that you have to listen to it more than once to appreciate it. When I first listened to it, I thought that it sounded like a huge disappointment. I must admit that I expected a lot more from a group that wanted to come back onto the scene after so many years. It just isn't special. It sounds too much like the average rock CD. I can listen to it while I am busy doing something and it just fades into the background. Nothing makes me lose my focus. I shouldn't have gotten so excited especially since Billy Corgan's solo CD wasn't fabulous. I just chalked that up to the fact that he needed to be a part of a group in order to balance out his ego and bring out his real talent. The crap in the insert is not what I would call artwork. I mean who the heck wants to see another picture of Paris Hilton! Yikes! That is just wrong! On a more positive note, seeing them try to get it together again does give me hope. They are on the right track, but they can't be afraid to step off of it and do something special. Some of their best songs were just plain weird, but that was what made them great. If you don't care for this one, don't give up. They may not be at the top, but they have the potential to be. Just keep hope alive and wait for the next CD. I gave this one 4 out of 5 instead of 3 just because some of them are good, but none of them are great.

An excellent album that is a joy to hear for any rocker, but especially for pumpkin fans. It is without a doubt one of the top five albums of 2007. This is also one the loudest albums I've ever heard, the music is really an in your face experience. It's not all of the Smashing Pumpkins lineup though; it's just Billy corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain (drummer). They are the only musicians on this album, but do one hell of a job at rockin it out. The only complaint I have is that I wish the drums would have been a little louder.

  I think it is simple...
Review created: 11/13/07

I honestly believe that it simple and we do not need to make a lot of fuss about this record. This ain't the best Pumpkins' work to date.It is normal. They don't have the teenage angst that they had some years ago. They are not the four of them (even if D'arcy and James "didn't" offer as much). Billy has reached new musical paths far from Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie. Probably the only one that's intact, musically is Jimmy (he was, is and will be a great drummer).
Nevertheless, this record has many fine moments, and taking into account that reunion albums usually are below average I can say that it's good. It can be the basis for some more great music by Corgan and his team (even if it's only Jimmy or all the old and new members). My favorite tracks are six i.e. half the record.
I can advise anyone to try and buy it. It is as buying Gish. You didn't know what you were going to hear...Now you might know or expect but it worth trying.

Not one of their best albums
Review created: 10/04/07(updated 10/07/07)

As a fan of the Pumpkins for over 10 years, I hate to say this is not one of their best volumes of work. Original members Corgan and Chamberlin reunite, and have a couple of really great songs on this CD (Tarantula, That's the Way, and Come On, but the rest of the album seems half-hearted and mediocre at best - a far cry from their original work. For the true Pumpkins fan, it's still a must-own.

  Shades Of Black

Zwan and Billy's solo album fell flat by my standards so my hopes were pretty low when I bought this. Surprise surprise!!! I never could have dreamed the SP would come back with such a strong album. Sure, the band has evolved and if you are looking for a re-working of the old styles you might be disappointed. Those with open minds will probably conclude (as I did) that this one is perfect from start to finish. 5 Stars.

Despite of their rage...this album rocks!!
Review created: 08/05/07

It seems that some time away from the spotlight made Billy Corgan and his band fellows to come out with all the rage they were keeping to themselves all this time and put a really raw and heavy material on the market.

The fans they earned with "Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness" ballads and even with the odd "Adore" will certainly not recognize that SM they used to listen. This is by far the most agressive of their records and you know what? That sounds fantastic!

Listening to the first two tracks - "Doomsday Clock" and "7 Shades of Black" - will provide one a simple introduction to what the rest of the album tastes. The word "Love" on "That's the Way (My Love Is)" is deceiving: don't expect here a beautiful romance song, that one that you would play in the background with your loved one. By the way, Billy's ability to put soft lyrics into noisy songs is really impressive. He's done that before.

Prepare your ears. It's been a long time since I last heard an album that almost left me deaf like this one. Rocks!

  Bonus Tracks & Multiple Colors!
Review created: 07/10/07

I was never into the Smashing Pumpkins, but decided to give this a listen anyways. I was blown away by the opening track "Doomsday Clock", that is a really cool tune. I even dig the single "Tarantula". But my favorite song of anything I've ever heard from this band is "Bleeding The Orchid". That is a really cool track you should check out. There are also many colors available with this album with various bonus tracks. Here is what I've seen so far Orange w/ "Death From Above" & Purple w/ Title Track "Zeitgeist" and Red which has the standard 12 tracks.

Zeitgeist sounding like the "Old Pumpkins"
Review created: 07/10/07
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

First, why did I buy this? Well i'm a long time pumpkin head from the early 90's and I like just about anything that Billy Corgan puts out! Zeitgeist has the sound that Adore or Machina didn't, i'm not saying that they weren't great work (I think Adore is the deepest Pumpkins album out there) but if you want to hear loud heavy guitars this album has it! The last song on the album "Pomp and Circumstances" sounds like it should be on the second disc of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness! Amazing! My favorite songs are "Doomsday Clock, Bleeding the Orchid and United States". I'm not a big fan of the art work, I like the album art they made for Mellon Collie and Machina, using famous people and tv's as album art, well i'm just not buying it! I get the point though. Trent Reznor in his new album is kind of the same. Please don't hit me for saying that, Trent is a little deeper though. Anyways I hoped this helped in some way. Pumpkins forever! just keep making music! Thanks Jason
