To be perfectly honest this game lacks in many subjects. The primary and most important is its replay value. Game was beaten in 1-5 hours and no multi player. The pros of this game are its amazing graphics and was completely fulfilling for the however short couple of hours. Recommend renting this one.

  Great Story-Based Game
Review created: 01/27/07

I know it is a fact that its not really based on how it goes in the real episodes but this game can show the alternate side of the whole Yu-Gi-Oh! story.

  Plot-based?

Unfortunately for the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise, they have been cursed with the ability to create either a great story-based game with terrible game-based mechanics or a great game-based game with terrible plot. This is one of the good-plot ones.

Since the plot is good on this, and reminds me quite a bit of the show, I've decided to give it some lenience and give it a 3/5. If I were to base my score on the card game's mechanics, I would give it a 1/5. The game doesn't tell you what each card's effect is, so when your opponent attacks a defense position monster and you take damage, you're left wondering what happened. The tribute summoning feature is also entirely different from the game, having you summon some monsters with three tributes, some with two, and some with none. There are lots of cards that aren't even featured in the show or manga. It's extremely confusing, to say the least.

If you actually want to play the story, this would be a pretty good game to rent. If you want to play Yu-Gi-Oh, this is the worst possible game you could buy. It has more in common with Madden than it does the card game.

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards: - The Egyptian Gods Are Angry
Review created: 06/25/04

Pros:
Presentation, And The Inclusion of the God Cards

Cons:
Gameplay, New Rules, Too Linear, and No Multiplayer

Konami really is going crazy with the Yu-Gi-Oh license that they acquired a few years back. Not only have they released 5, count them, 5 Gameboy Advance games, and a Gameboy Color game, but they've also recently expanded to the console world with this hot license. Now this would not be so bad, save for the fact that Yu-Gi-Oh is based on a card game, and so you are basically playing the same card game with every new release in the Yu-Gi-Oh series, but with slightly different rules every time. However, for a particular release Konami started thinking about some new ideas for the Yu-Gi-Oh series.
