You're Only Old Once! by Dr. Seuss (1986, Hardcover)

I have read this book from the local library and I bought it for my Mom for Christmas since I knew she would have the sense of humor to enjoy it. She liked it as much as do and shared it with the grandchildren. I think they liked it, but they may like it better when they're old enough to relate to it. It is written in Dr. Seuss' famous style and it is meant to be read and reread over time.

Some of the older Dr. Seuss books are out-of-print and/or hard to find.
This is a great gift for an older person (of any age).

I bought this book as a "Retirement Gift" for a teacher. She loves Dr. Seuss, so I thought she'd "get a kick" out of this book. It is a really cute book for someone older, as it's not really written for children.

I bought "You're Only Old Once!" after seeing a biography on Theodore Seuss Geisel. I never knew he had written a book for "obsolete children." My children grew up with a steady diet of Dr. Seuss, and now I'm reading them to my granddaughter. It only seems fair that I have one of my very own Dr. Seuss books.

He was an incredible man who brought joy to generations of children and will continue to do so for many generations to come.

I find those gag gifts for adult birthdays trite and stupid. This book is clever and a pleasant change. You can't go wrong with Dr. Seuss. I keep a couple copies of this book on hand so I always have a gift when one of our friends reaches another 'milestone' birthday.

I received the book today but when i was looking over it there was old water damage on the spine of the book and some pages. In the description that should have been written.

As a nurse and as a middle-aged adult, I enjoyed this humorous account of the challenges of an adult going through the hoops of having a medical exam. It is written in Dr. Seuss style and uses that familiar style I loved as a child, to show the humor in growing old! It would be a great gift for someone turning 40, or 50, or 60, or more!

Dr. Seuss's quirky humor shines through and explores the world of growing old as only he could do! I purchased this as a gift for my mom who recently turned 60. There's a lot of truth in the book, especially funny is the section on the pills. Need to read it to find out more.

I love antiques. I love dr.seuss. And I turned 40 this year. I had never heard of this book before but when I saw it I just knew it was a collectable that I had to have! I love it and I feel it was there waiting for me. I'll cherish it with my other favorite dr.seuss books!

For us older folks, this is a humorous look at our miserable experiences with medical exams. When we go through test after test, are referred to doctor after another, and find outselves confused over all our prescriptions, we identify with the dear old main character.

Over the years, I bought several copies of this book for people who are very sick. Much laughter results.

On eBay, I can usually buy it more cheaply than in my local used book stores.

The book is so apropos for friends and family who are nearing 70. The book is hilarious and will be a joy. One or two copies had some yellowing, others looked brand new. We are pleased.
