  A MUST READ!

I bought this book after reading about it in a magazine and am so glad I did. It is written in a very easy to read and understand way. The authors have done a very good job relaying some pretty technical information for the average person to understand. And talk about motivating! This book will make you get up off the couch and get moving! I love the author's rules for living younger! If I could, I would buy this book (or Younger Next Year) for all my friends and family - in fact it just might be in a few stockings this year!

This is a fun book to read. It has wonderful suggestions to staying fit for years to come. It's written by 2 doctors, who have done their research. Plus, the authors have a sense of humor, and witty writing style....so it keeps you smiling. I really enjoyed it.

I found this book interesting, but somewhat boring ....

I bought this book as I found it was written by one of the Dr's. in the practice where my daughter sees her general physician in NYC.
The premise of the book is great -- exercise 6 days a week and eat healthy and keep a positive attitude in life. Stay busy -- stay active-- join clubs--keep working. Do not become a couch potato after 50. Period.
The problem being was..this was repeated over and over and over in the different ways in the different chapters of the book by the Doctor who co- authored this book with his "success" story patient... a male who became ACTIVE in exercising after 50, and is now physically "younger" than he was.
Great success story, good to know...but somewhat discouraging to me because it implies that any exercise LESS than 6 days a week will not be very beneficial.
AND..to me? They might as well have written a ONE page book stating that if you don't exercise daily and stay busy..you will decay. It took many many many pages to say that over and over, thus the reason why I found it somewhat a boring read.

  Truly Motivating

My daughter-in-law gave me this book for my birthday. It has motivated me to get serious about exercise and diet. I have never read anything that has gotten me up and moving like this so I have given it all of my close friends. Anyone I want to grow old with gets a book. It is a must read for every woman over 60.

  Good advice, but...
Review created: 10/06/08

I bought this book at the recommendation of my Doctor. Basically the book says you must do maximum heart rate cardio an hour a day for the rest of your life, and weightlifting 3 days a week. It says this over and over again, in different words, and gives medical jargon explanations and personal examples.

I liked the advice given in the book, however, the two authors were so different in their writing styles, it made it 'choppy' and less enjoyable. Also, many people simply do not have that amount of extra time, so its a little unrealistic for the many people who are not retired. It would have been more helpful if they could have offered a 'happy medium' for busy people instead of the all or nothing approach.
