Young Frankenstein (DVD, 1998)

I bought it because my family wore the VHS tape out. Excellent, perhaps the BEST Mel Brooks ever made. A dream cast of actors in their prime, in a classic spoof of horror classics. Made in black and white, similar to the original Frankenstein movies, only adds to its lasting appeal. I smile everytime I think of my favorite scenes. Funny, Funny, Funny!

Caution: Although there is very limited usage, some language and overtures are inappropriate. Screen it before you share it with younger children.

One of my favorite movies. Felt a need to add to my collection. This movie is ideal for those with an appreciation of the wit of Mel Brooks and the acting talents of a fabulous cast. Of course you must have a quirky and slightly unorthodox sense of humor yourself. A quick mind to catch all the double entendres is also required.

This movie isn't number 13 on AFI's top 100 best movies of all time for nothing. It is definitely the best horror spoof ever made. Gene Wilder is awesome as Dr. Frankenstein (pronounced 'steen' to avoid being affiliated with his 'insane' grandfather). A must see!

one of the funniest movies by brooks, I love that its in black and white, the movie has a lot of jokes most people wouldnt get, but thats what I love about mel brooks.

This is one of Mel Brooks best movies. This is a Silly look at the Frankenstein Mythos. It is in Black and White to give it an old movie feel. The actors are Hilarious. This is one of my favorite Mel Brooks movies, right next to Blazing Saddles. I had to buy this to share it with friends and family. I highly recommed you own a copy.

The dvd arrived withiun the specified period. It was in almost new condition. Great to see this classic movie again. Only had it on VHS till now.

I see what our kids today call "comedy" and a lot of it really isn't funny on it's own merits. I wanted my kids to see a truly hilarious movie that doesn't depend on blatant sex appeal & vulgarity. Just as I expected ... all of the kids (age range is 11 to 17) absolutely loved it. They've watched it repeatedly because they keep seeing things that they missed before. Gene Wilder is truly one of the masters of comedy!! You can't go wrong with this movie!

I saw the movie when it first came out. Thought it way funny, but not fall down funny. After a few days, I realized I was telling everyone about the movie. I went to see it again the next week and enjoyed it for what it is...a brilliantly written, acted and directed movie. Over 30 years later the guys come over to the house and once in awhile we still watch it.

Prior he had excellent rating. Just after I made purchase I saw POOR ratings start to hit his page. Ebay kicked him off. After first complaint and response I never heard from him again.

There is nothing I can say about the writing, directing, acting that is negative. Mel Brooks is a comedic genius, and the 1970's were his 'golden years' of film making. (Actually go back to 1968 and the original 'The Producers')

Gene Wilder stars in & co-wrote this film and 'Blazing Saddles', which were made within about a year of each other. Both are comedy classics!

The late great Peter Boyle is a superb 'Frankenstein's Monster' and is so funny! The late great Madeline Kahn is wonderful as well.

Another of my favorites of the 'Mel Brooks Stock Company' is Cloris Leachman.

She is a scene stealer in this film as well as in 'High Anxiety'!

'Young Frankenstein' is a winner.

It's worth the time and effort.

Boris Karloff felt there should've been no sequel to "Frankenstein". Before discovering he said that, I felt the same way. Even "Bride" and "Son of Frankenstein" was unnecessary filler. However, Mel Brooks' genius proves this is more than a respectable sequel, to Karloff's original. I feel Peter Boyle makes the movie great. No slack on Gene Wilder's part, but Boyle makes the movie (maybe cause I call the monster "Frankenstein" too). Sure this is a comedy, but it more than compliments the Karloff movie. Plus, it gives the ending you feel should happen in Mary Shelly's book. Unlike his grandfather, Freddy Frankenstein cares about his creation. He makes himself a "guinea pig", so the monster can turn good. A great ending, for one of my favorite movie monsters.

Arguably Mel Brook's funniest film along w/ Blazing Saddles. Young Frankenstein is all black & white to give a feel of the old time horror movies. Lots of big names such as Gene Wilder, Terri Garr, Madaline Kahn, Peter Boyle, Marty Feldman. Made in the early-mid 70's, it's still very funny today, hasn't lost anything with time as some comedies will do, over that amount of time. Not much to say about this...the plot isn't complex, but the lines are hilarious. Igor is beyond funny, and Terri Garr steals the show with a great German accent and sex appeal.

Young Frankenstein is one of last century's funniest movies. The company offering for sale is not. I, along with millions of other e-Bay users, assume that items on e-Bay are available for purchase. The item, a collector's edition of Young Frankenstein, I attempted to purchase was not. No substitutions were offered. The company, White Elephant Media falsely offered the DVD for sale, while aware they were out of stock. Now my girlfriend is mad at me.

This is a classic Mel Brooks movie. I like this one better than Blazin Saddles. It is filmed in black and white and the humor of Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman is classic. They are both great! I highly recommend this film!

Young Frankenstein has a cast of off beat hilarious characters that make you howl with laughter. This is a fantastic comedy that you just can't help but enjoy. The fact that its in black and white really adds to the fun since its a parody of the original classic horror film, Frankenstein.
This is one of my favorite comedies and its the perfect after dinner party enjoyment to share with friends. Just supply bowls of popcorn and comfy chairs. Your guests will love you for it! It truly is one of the best comedies ever made.
