I used to have this album a long time ago, and one of my old friends (no longer) "borrowed" it and kept it. Some friend, huh? Well, I can understand why he did; it's an awesome album. It's a shame there are no bands like this anymore. Or at least, none of them are very well known, not that Hum was either.

Lyrically, these guys seem to have a fascination with science fiction, and their music is a bit heavy, yet melodic. It seems like they genuinely believe in the music they make. I like the singer's voice. It's not that he's got some awesome voice; I like him for the fact that he sounds honest - if you or I or Joe Blow got up and started a rock band, it's probably how our singing would sound (unless you're into death metal or something, I guess...).

I don't know; I hate trying to pigeonhole, or say that a band sounds like this band mixed with that band, and a little of this other band. If you like rock music, you'll probably like at least a few of their songs. Just give them a listen. If people would actually like what sounds good, and not what record companies tell them to like (i.e. - all the crap on the radio nowadays), then bands like this might still be around.

  Suicide Machine
Review created: 07/18/08

Heavy thick guitars and an awesome beat made me keep this album on repeat ever since I came across it last week. Think Nirvana meets Wish For Eden meets Poor Old Lu. This is a very solid alternative metal album that deserved a much wider audience. Can't believe it took me this long to discover it. Back in 95 this would have been my favorite CD. 4 Stars.

  These guys rock!

I have been listining to this CD since the mid 90's and it never gets old. It is one of those that I would have on a desert island (assuming I had the means to play it) if I were allowed only 5 CDs. It flows, it has great lyrics, it is intense, it invites you into another world and takes you away. I don't use truly musical words to describe music - I use emotion and this is deep, it is fearless, it is passionate. If you are looking for something that is really, really good, this is it. HUM still rocks in my world.

  Hum..90's alternative
Review created: 08/08/06

These guys captured the art of the "free" alternative of the mid-90's with some great lyrics and awesome musical parts. I've only been listening to the band for the last few weeks, and haven't researched much about them. All I know is the lead guy is in a new band, but i'm not even sure if they are together. The most important thing is, if you like the easy going free flowing alternative of the mid-90's, you're going to like this stuff.

I bought this album looking for pop-punkish emo. It wasn't what I was looking for. It's less then mediocre.

One you can rock the entire way through

Everything to love and nothing to dislike. What could have (and should have) been one of the breakthru artists of the 90's. A must period.
