Not a diet, but a lifestyle

I absolutly love this book. This book is a lifestyle, not a diet. Dr.Gillian wrote a wonderful book regarding auyrveda, natural health and tasty recipes. I bought a copy for myself and for a friend, she loves it just as much as I do. A majority of the hints listed are very easy and you can incorporate into your daily life. 2 thumbs way up!

I purchased this book after watching several episodes of the show by the same name on BBC. The book reveals a much friendlier Gillian McKeith than is portrayed on her program. I found her food advice helpful in treating some of my own conditions of poor nutrition. (I had chronically cracked finger-tips, and they were cured without reoccurrence when I began supplementing my diet with the deficient nutrients.) I am not a health-food nut by any means, and even so, her book will help you make gradual changes in your food choices, pointing you to better nutritional health. It is worth the read.

McKeith gets right to the point on many health related issues in this book. The book is written in a format that will keep even the most extreme ADD/ADHD adult satisfied and attentive till the end of the book. There are loads of pictures, and the author uses very simple to follow explanations. I recommend this book to anyone who really wants to be healthy - inside and out. If you are skeptical - just try following suggested meal plans for 3 days and then go gorge yourself on white flour products and loads of saturated fats... Your body will tell you what it thinks.
Remember a healthy diet isn't just for fat people trying to get skinny - it's a transformation necessary to sustain a long and happy life!

Good book but doesn't have lots of recepies... tells more about learning how to become organic and eliminate the bad food.
Is like the show but is more detailed and you can learn more but if you are looking for receipies buy her book that only contains receipies.

good luck

The book follows the show of the same name. If you are serious about your health, I highly recommend the book. The recipes are reasonable for anyone, of any cooking level, to prepare and they actually taste good. The other nice thing is that there is something in this book for everyone, young and old. I have lost 4 stone (56#) so far just following some of the suggestions she has had for the people on her show (BBC America).

  Some great advice

I think as long as you don't read this book expecting changes overnight, you will find it helpful and useful. I've begun slowly incorporating some of her suggestions and have already noticed improvements in how I feel and my mood swings. Unfortunately, I am not wealthy enough to buy every single supplement or food that she suggests, but even if you can budget a few things it is worthwhile.

Makes Think About What You Eat...
Review created: 09/16/09

This book is told in a language you can understand. The basic principals seem to be to incorporate more vegetables, and grains into your diet. Considering the many processed foods on the market, not to mention the fast food grease ridden foods we eat, and that our children, grandchildren are consuming. I think that the addition of whole natural foods is a excellent choice. I use to think that these foods were more expense then all the processed ones. But in reality the way you feel once you change your eating habits is just amazing. This book gives you some interesting advise, on whole foods, and grains. It is just a tool in the game of a better lifestyle, of less processed, and fast foods. I am not doctor buy any means. This is just my personal opinion. Because your doctor always knows whats best for you......

You Are What You Eat by Gillian McKeith
Review created: 06/15/09

This book is a marvelous tool to get you being a better person both mentally and physically. McKeith provides a key guide in helping determining what your body is telling you. The book is neatly organized and is very colorful. McKeith does not recommend a diet with limits and restriction but opens the door to a wide variety of foods that the majority of us forgotten about or just not familiar with. The book is easy to read. What I love is not only she tells the reader what to eat but why it is important. She address how to combine foods so that our bodies functions as it should. She also tells the reader what food combinations to avoid so that your body does not over develop farts, and burps. I can not think of a more important book to have rather if you are interested in better physical health, mental health, cooking for yourself and loved ones. The one of the smartest moves you can do is purchase this book for yourself or for your loved one and start enjoying the bounty that comes from the earth. As far as why I bought the book was well to be honest I saw the show and was fascinated by what she had to say. I was amazed by the number of people who just ate white process foods only and ate chocolate and drank gallons of coffee and then wonder why they felt miserable. Please do yourself a favor by this book. Happy eating.

There was actually information in this book about digestion and different foods that I had never heard before. She gives a lot of information for starting a lifestyle change. The start of the menus is very restrictive but if you are looking for a cleasing diet this is it.

  You are what you eat...

My daughter got me started on this diet. It's one that is meant to be a goal for change. She gets the BBC television show upon which this book is based. I feel more energetic, and when I sleep, it's a better sleep. You have to get out of the "fast food" cycle, and that's tough to do when the people around you want to eat junk. You learn not just WHAT to eat, by WHY it's important. Some of her recommended foods aren't as readily available, but you can substitute and find fresh food choices in your area. Give it a try! You'll feel better for it!

I watch 'You Are What You Eat' on TV and enjoy the show. I wanted the advice that she gives her clients on TV. Her ideas are very interesting. I will be doing some of them but not all.

I am also going to be getting the cookbook to go along with this book.

You Really Are What You Eat!
Review created: 03/17/08

I purchased this book after getting hooked on the BBC show "You Are What You Eat". I really enjoyed the book and it makes a lot of sense. Although, I will not incorporate everything Gillian recommends, I do plan to include more whole foods and more raw foods into my diet. This books and the show definitely makes a person much more self aware of the importance of what we put into our bodies and the affect it has on us. The book goes into a lot of the details not covered in the show and I highly recommend it.

I love how the book goes over common ailments like being tired all the time and how you can fix all these ailments by changing the way you eat and choosing to live a healthier life style. I chose to buy the book after I started watching the show "You are what you eat" on BBC and seeing how dietary changes in peoples lives not only changed their bodies but their whole outlook on life. Overall I would recomend this book if you are looking to change to a healthier lifestyle and to start feeling and looking better. I would not recomend this book for someone who is not willing to make a dramatic change in their eating habits.

I am writing this for review of ebay. I bought this book using ebay and using a paypal credit card. I received an email after winning this book saying I won. I paid for the book and then received a letter saying do not buy anything with this person out of ebay. which I had not. Never received my book. Pay pal said I was wronged but they can not give me my money or the book. but if the person that sold me my book uses ebay again. they will confiscate my money back. What kind of guarantee is ebay? How are they keeping me safe from fraud? thats my review of the book I never received. I hope people read this and know that they are not safe from fraud. and nothing is guaranteed by ebay.
