Yodelling Songs of the Alps by Heidi (CD, Jul-2000, Mastersong)

Heidi's yodeling is an absolute delight. Her rendition of Torrani's "Mockingbird Yodel" is one of the best I've heard. A versatile yodeler, Heide performs both alpine and country style yodels although, in my estimation, her alpine yodels are superior. Alpine highlights are Heidi's renditions of "Cuckoo Yodel", S'Lauterbach", and "Mein Gluck Ist Die Hutteil" (one of my favorite alpine songs). Here "Tribute to Shirly Toms" stands out on the country side of things.

It's my guess that the country/western songs were recorded earlier as Heidi's voice is much more in control on the alpine songs. None the less, the entire collection is excellent.

By the way, don't confuse this "Yodeling Songs of the Alps" with another CD of the same name that's widely available. The other CD is quite different. See my review here:



Unfortunately, I haven't found any additional recordings featuring Heidi and there's no sign of her on the web. This may be a one of a kind recording and is a must for all yodeling fans.
