Synopsis Based on current brain research, psychologist Michael Bradley presents his theory that although 95% of the brain develops during childhood, the final 5% doesn't develop until adolescence is nearly complete, thus leaving teenagers in a relatively unstable mental state. Bradley claims that teenagers' mental facilities are further challenged by contemporary culture's emphasis on sex, drugs, and violence. Bradley then goes on to explain how parents can help guide their children through these difficult years mainly through behaving as "dispassionate cops" who remain calm and ever-present in their children's lives even during the most trying of times.
