Yes! C-Groove Sophia The Best Blade On the Market
Review created: 12/31/05
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I've been playing and selling the Yes! C-Groove line of putters for about a year now, and I swapped out the Sophia with my Cameron Red X and I was amazed at the roll and the feel of this blade putter! It's unbelieveable especially on short putts, I have confidence now to sink those 5 footers, thanks to the patented c-Groove technology the ball rolls true!

  Yes! Putter - Sophia

The Yes! Sophia is a traditional blade style and looks very much like one used (and designed by) Ben Crenshaw and Phil Mickelson. Both men are considered to be among the best putters in the game - especially Crenshaw. Phil uses two different Odyssey models designed especially for him - both are shaped very similar to the Sophia (left handed, of course). Last I looked, Odyssey was not offering either model for sale - oh, yeah, you can try to win a replica (Good luck!). Also, Scotty Cameron produced a model very similar to the Sophia called the American Classics VII (only 2005 were produced according to his website). If you can find one of the Cameron's for sale, expect to pay a lot for it due to its scarcity. Ping produces a traditional blade in its G5 series, but it has an insert so the feel is totally different.

I tried the Sophia several times before purchasing. I also read the Yes! webwite and the technology behind the C-grooves. The Sophia has some offset which I liked, and the 340 gram weighting felt great. Also, the soft 304 stainless steel produces a feel very much like when you use a forged wedge to chip from around the green. When struck on-center, you get a soft "click" and the ball goes exactly where you aim it. The "gun barrel blue" titanium finish is pleasing to the eye, and there is a single alignment dot for sighting. Distance control is supurb once you get the hang of it.

This is not a putter that forgives sloppiness, however. You MUST stoke it so that the c-grooves strike the ball, (i.e., don't "top" the ball with the bottom of the putter) or the feel is dead and you get immediate feedback that your putt will likely be short. The putter rewards its user when you keep your head down and focus on solid contact. I repeat, the ball goes exactly where you aim it. This putter has actually helped my technique because I learned quickly to keep my head down and still, and my eyes on the ball through the stroke.

If you want a putter that is a classic design, is extremely accurate, provides a ton of feedback, rolls true with absolutely NO hop off the clubface, and gives a soft feel when struck properly, then this is a putter worth a try.

You could pay hundreds more for a Cameron without attaining better results (is status worth the extra $$?) or you could wait for Odyssey to get its act together. I found it difficult to find one on Ebay for less than retail ($140) so I bit the bullet and paid retail for it. I'm glad I did.

YES! Sophia Heel Shafted Blade Putter with C-Grooves
Review created: 05/09/07(updated 05/09/07)

LIKED - Quality was excellent. Beautiful black oxide finish. Grip was tacky and felt great in hands. Head design easy to look at. On the heavy side which is good for eliminating 'yippy' moves in your stroke. Solid feel at ball striking.
DISLIKED - Black Oxide finish shows fingerprints easily. Didn't like the 'C' groove appearance on the face. Would have preferred a recessed insert with the 'C' grooves so the grooves would not have been so evident. Didn't see much difference between the YES! Sophia and my other heel shafted, blade style putters in ball roll. I believe their testing results are true but I am not sure it shows up in reality on the green. A little pricey. OVERALL - It really comes down to personal preference in a putter. You won't go wrong with the YES! Sophia putter but you can find others just as effective.

This putter has a great feel and eyes to ball sight if you are use to putting with a heal putter. Ball roll is excellent on slow greens. If you have a punch like putting style, this is an ideal putter. One disadvantage about this putter is that you must bend down to pick up the golf ball because you can not used the back side to scope it up. If this is the only worry about the putter, you should enjoy the look and feel of this putter.

Yes - Sophia straight blade putter

I've been looking for a LH straight blade putter for years. The Yes is as close to the original Scotty Cameron blade as I have been able to find. Very well balanced, great feel on a metal face putter and it seems to be helping my putting game a lot. Go get one Lefties.

This is the simplest yet the most elegant looking putter ive seen. The weight and size is dead-on for me,i just sold my victoria II putter to get this one.The SOPHIA feels about half as heavy but i dont know exactly how much less it really is. I have tried many putters and used alot of friends when playing and i think the YES! putters have a leg up on all the others. It's just a matter of personel preference when it comes to which model you choose, but i think anyone could putt very well with this one.

Yes! Sophia Putter. Love this work of art.

Under no cirumstances is this a "better" putter. You want to improve your game? Go get one of those face balanced putters that look like a love child between a jet engine and car engine block. This is a great putter that combines old school looks and feel with a few modern advancements (Grooved face, modern forging process, etc ). If you're a romantic that likes the old wilson 8802 blade style putter then you need to seriously check this putter out. Being made from forged metal, this is the softest putter I have EVER tried. There isn't even an insert on the face! Ball rolls incredibly smooth. However this putter is in no way forgiving on off centered hits. (the design makes it obvious you need to have a smooth consistent stroke.) Two amazing wilson 8802 style putters out there I love: This one and the Bimini Blade by rife (rofe?). The Bimini last I checked was well over $200 dollers. I bought the Sophia for $80 + shipping off Ebay. Which do I like better? I like having the extra $120 in my pocket. (People have also raved about cleveland's blade style putter. You'ld be amazed at how hard it is to get a good looking putter out of such a simple design. Cleveland's looks funny too me don't know why.)

Plus with the finish, design, and the softness of the metal, this is a borderline putter/work of art. Love this putter but remember because of its design it wont love everyone back.

Good alternative to a more expensive putter.
Review created: 03/09/09

I love the feel of the putter both with the weight and the grip. It is less expensive than the similar Cameron or Ping models. The club lacks a good alignment mark for direction, but many golfers would prefer this system. I fully plan to use this as my putter this season and anticipate very positive results.

  Yes Sophia putter
Review created: 06/27/08

I needed a new putter and went and tried about 30 different putters at a larger chain-type golf store. I wasn't going to pay much attention to price, just find which one felt right. I ended up coming home with the Yes! Sophia blade putter. What a great decision that was!! I've now used it for about 10 rounds(11 hdcp) and found that the putter seems to set the ball along the same line I visualise. It feels well balanced and very precise. Putting is 80% confidence, and my confidence is much higher when using this putter!!

Looks clean and simple at address
Review created: 01/26/08

The club looks so good at address. But remember no club is a miracle worker,if you make a good swing.you get good results.I am not going to tell you that I can sink every putt within 5 feet and yet have my putter up for sale as someone here has.
I have had it for 3 years now and I am looking for a second one so I can practice at home.
Other putters that I used before this were,2 ball putter(both normal and long shafts),Scotty Camaron and a Oddessy white hot.
All those putters are for sale if interested but not my Sophie.

  Nice traditional putter
Review created: 08/05/07

Sets up nice, feels great, great weighting. The weighting allows for a nice smooth stroke back and through. C Groove Technology is key here though, the ball comes off the face and rolls true from the start.

Like all heel shafted putter, the Sophia is great for the feel putter who uses eye and hand coordination, and putts with the arc stroke or the open the door close the door mode of putting. This putter has good feel and and the shaft is well matched for the head weight.
