Album Notes Few synth-pop outfits can boast the longevity and staying power of the Pet Shop Boys as demonstrated on their 10th studio album, YES. With its soulfulness and simplicity, YES manages to keep the duo sounding fresh while injecting a warmth too often lost in electronic music. While the album certainly doesn't break any new ground, the Pet Shop Boys' predictability is part of their charm since they long ago perfected the formula for the perfect dance anthem. Johnny Marr, who also collaborated with Pet Shop Boys vocalist Neil Tennant in Electronic, lends his guitar talents to the release; and go-to indie string arranger Owen Pallett lends a hand as well.

U.K. girly-pop production team Xenomania bring mirrorball sparkle to alternately anxious and elated ballads. Spin
3 stars out of 5 -- On their excellent 10th album, the music leans toward the ornate, with snatches of Tchaikovsky and spaghetti-Western atmospherics enveloping the synths and house beats. Rolling Stone
