Synopsis At the request of a befuddled emissary from Pepperland, four lads from Liverpool take a ride in a yellow submarine and use music to aid Pepperland's besieged residents in their battle against the Blue Meanies.
Inspired by The Beatles' popular song and the 1968 animated movie of the same name, YELLOW SUBMARINE tells the tale of Pepperland, a wonderful place full of happiness and music--until the dreadful Blue Meanies take over, turning everything quiet and blue. Just when it seems that Pepperland will be blue forever, four English lads, named John, Paul, George, and Ringo, step in to save the day. The colorful pop art illustrations match the style of the classic film.

Publisher's Note This bright and bold picture book provides an accompaniment to the popular Beatle's song and animated classic about a magical world called Pepperland, an evil group called The Blue Meanies, and a determined group called St. Pepper's Band who simply refuse to stop playing their tunes.
Industry Reviews "The tale is full of puns and wordplay, as fresh now as when it first was sung by the Beatles 35 years ago. For many, this text is overlaid with accretions of memory and desire, but the effort to shake that off and read it as a bouncy and affectionate foray into a land of words tossed like juggler's balls and the redemptive power of song is amply repaid. The delirious color and the shape-shifting figures offer delight on every page. Love Is all you need." Kirkus (07/01/2004)
