Yankee Stadium by Alfred Santasiere III (2008, Hardcover)

I like all the photographs of the stadium and all the details; like the offices, the locker room, and all the events that happened. There were rock concerts, football games, old time players like Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Yogi Berra, Babe Ruth, Lou Gerig, etc. There even was a photo of President George Bush Pitching. Why I bought it was because it was ten dollars cheaper and it was the stadium's final year.

Being that this book is the official retrospective, the authors of the book are very descriptive in detail of the old ballpark. For those that don't know the history of this classic park, you'll enjoy reading this book. Yankee Stadium was not just a ballpark for the Yankees, concerts have played there; the Pope gave Mass there; the New York football Giants called this place once home. For those who aren't readers, there are beautiful pictures, some never before seen, images that you will soon not forget. I am a big fan of the New York Yankees. I've been to this park as boy all the way to my adulthood. I will miss this ballpark immensely. For those that haven't been there, while you still can, go there. If not, the book will be the next best thing to being at "The House That Ruth Built."

This is a great book and a wonderful way to teaach your childern the history behind the New York Yankees. It has wonderful pictures. You cannot go wrong with this book!

Photographs are vivid and so clear. The people look as if they could jump off the page and have a conversation with you! The pictures are that sharp! And it is filled with so much information and quotes from many celebrities who have been a part of its history or are now affiliated with the Yankees organization. Any Yankees fan would be thrilled to own this beautifully composed tribute to an era gone by.

I like this book because it gives you history of the yankees! I wanted a piece of the stadium history being thier tearing it down and builing a new one.I never gotten to go there so it makes me a little sad. But this book is great memorabillia. I wasn't disappointed!
