I compared all the best rated brands, along with their features & a price range of 350.00 to 550.00 used & new. The YAMAHA 6060 spec's for this price range easily beat out any competitor. It has all the bells & whistles you could ask for, & that includes you audophiles. Works 'fantastic' with all my old analoge as well as new digital audio & visual equipment. The 7.1 channel sound is clean & pure, putting you in the middle of the action. Hookup is simple & the YAPO surround-Field-Speaker-Setup is a breeze & actually works. I've only made a couple of minor manual adjustments to tune it to my own ears. I can get over 100 watts per channel from the great sounding amps & I like much of my music pretty loud (child of the 60's) & I haven't even begun to challenge it's output, so there was no need to pay more for power I didn't need! It also had a bonus analoge pre-amped PHONO input which was a definate plus since I have a huge old collection of LP's that I've been missing hearing for quite a while. They come alive with the sound field capabilities of the amp, as if I had never heard them before! The HDMI outputs are a definate step-up for audio & visual & really cut down on the amount of wires to keep track of. My kids enjoy the IPOD interface. It's also 1080p capable which is a huge bonus for my new Panasonic 56", & it makes my 20 year old RCA 32" monitor's picture look like (where the hell was that picture before?)! MoNo & Stereo audio comes alive with the 7 channel enhancer & TV was never better. The back-lit remote is one of the best I have ever used & makes it a breeze to 'constantly change' :-) sound fields & settings. I run it thru 4 new Yahama NS-125FP floor standing speakers in the front & back, a Yamaha YST-SW225 active subwoffer & 2 Yamaha NS-M125P's on the sides. I'm in Yamaha heaven!

  Good Receiver all around

While i purchased it thinking it did up conversion through the HDMI port (its not clear on most online descriptions), it didnt have it. It up converts through the component port. Setup was fairly easy once you understand its limitations. Each video input is attached to one each audio inputs. HDMI, OPTICAL, COAXIAL, ANALOG. Some other receivers i had let me remap my optical ins as i like, but not this one. In any event. Once you setup all your wires and do the Auto Setup for your speakers the sound is awesome. Thats why you get a yamaha after all! Great sound even through my not so great speakers.
