that it item matched what was being purachsed by me and it was something that I was looking for. Plus it was easy to find when in doubt look at ebay

i liked that the game came around the time that the seller explained, however the game did not work on my ps2 but luckily i was able to find my ps1 in the basement. that was the only part that upset me but it might be because my ps2 is old (over 4 years)

Storyline:
What starts off as a cliche storyline of a man living in a secluded town with no memories soon turns into a tale that bluntly...isn't that cliche at all. This game, hands down, has got to have one of the best stories I have ever experienced in a video game, or in a book or movie for that matter. The amount of plot twists and turns, combined with memorable characters made this game worthwhile. It was a game that kept drawing me back, mainly because of the story. The story is so complex with much backstory that I had to play it through more than once to understand all of it.

Gameplay:
The gameplay also starts out like an average rpg. Until you get into your first random battle that is...although it might not be that fun in your first random battle. However, sticking with it, the battle system is very fun, with all the different combos and moves that can be learned. It adds a little something more over the traditional RPG type battle, which is a definite plus. Fighting with the Gears (big mech robots) also added in a nice touch.

Graphics:
I considered the graphics a bit above par when I played the game, but being a fan of anime like I am, I loved the anime cutscenes that were in the game. Sound:
There were some memorable tracks in the game, as well as almost every sound fitting to the situation, however the only reason it doesn't get a perfect is because of the dubbing during the anime cutscenes...which is ironic since I loved them visually.

Overall:
This is one of the best games of all time. I say this especially to those that get bored in the beginning of the game, before the story and gameplay gets more fun and exciting. It is a game that I feel everyone should play through at least once. It's just that good.

good story, long adventure,you get your money worth out of this game,and also great sound for those who into stuff like that.bottom line they dont make rpg like this anymore so its good to keep yours as a collection its too good to pass up.

I bought Xenogears way back when it first came out in 1998. It was, and continues to be, my favorite game of all time. The story of Xenogears is its best feature. It is deep and thought-provoking, and it twists and turns around events, continuously making you reconsider the meaning of recent events. The characters are very well developed as well. Everybody has a story to tell, including the main protagonists, and the antagonists that plague them. The battle system is simple and straight forward, just like systems ought to be. It is easy to learn, but the skills that are available to you are not overly simplistic; you must change your tactics for larger battles, while a basic routine will make smaller battles pass by without taking too much time.

If it were up to me, everybody could have this game. As it is, it seems to be a cult classic. But that only means that people have nothing but good things to say!

One of the greatest RPG`s of all time. Nothing has really come out that outshines the PS1`s heavy hitters. This game is up there with FF7, FF8 and Chrono Cross.

This is one of the greatest RPG'S ever made. Beautiful graphics, in-depth storyline and memorable characters. Many hours of game play well worth the time and money!

This game consists of a myriad of conjoined plots that unravel and ravel back up again as the game goes from high to low for a roller coaster ride that any rpg enthusiast can appreciate. The game play consists of interactive environments and entertaining turn based battles. With a number of different characters and gears to master this game ensures an exciting 50+ hours of game play. Pick it up soon and enjoy life indoors.

Xenogears is another excellent game of Squaresoft.
As Final Fantasy VII-VIII-IX and Vagrant story, Xenogears is indispensable.

Xenogears introduces one of the most unique play style ever. The storyline had a very great theme in it. If you've never heard about this game back in 1998, but have played the other Xeno game, "Xenosaga" for the PS2 then you have to try and get this game. You may even love it more than saga.

For the storyline, if you've played saga then it's pretty much the same, it focuses on mankind and an alternate being, I think it was Uudo in saga and the one in gears was more like an alien lifeform called Deus, and their struggles with the Zohar. In both games the characters use mech's or giant robots to battle the enemy and also play a role in the main storyline due to the Anima Relics used in the mechs.Also the theme is very religious to the bible. I will not get into more details and spoil everything for the people who has not played this game.

Battle system:
There exists two battle choices-either using characters or their mechs.
character battle-the character battle in xenogears is one of the best turn based battle system in most of the turn based battle system RPG's ever. It took out the command select menu of attack for the button combination attack to perform the character's deathblows. The basic of it is that the Triangle, Square, and X buttons are the main usage for attack, there is a select combination to perform and the character has several deathblows that will please the player throughout the game. There also exist's magic elements called ether, their usage is to damage the enemy with elements of nature and can hit multiple enemies too. There exist an AP gauge that can be built up to 24 points and can be used to combine the character's normal deathblows together and damage the enemy with a fast combination of your own choosing.

Mech battles:
You can also use the character's preferred mech in combat known as Gears. The Gears battle is similar to the character style with the same button combination, but also exists a fuel gauge(like gas for a car). Gears battle their exist level 0, 1, 2, and 3 attacks. You first start off with the level 0 with only one attack with either of the buttons mentioned before, for Triangle being level 1, Square 2, and X being 3. After the first phase when it's that certain character's turn again his gear's level of attack will increase, which will allow him to combine two button for the next attack. With each time of level 0 attack then the level of the next attack increases. With a higher level of attack the stronger the gear's combination attack will be, but also uses more fuel.

This game is a very good one, but also due to the very bad english voice acting(for not expanding the dialogue of the characters so when the character's mouth moves then the voice comes out and the voice end when the mouth stops moving). Due to this it seems really weird to see the character's saying "That's right, I'm a coward! and still see the character's mouth moving. The problem of the is that the japanese language differs greatly from the english because of this it is harder to actually say what the character are saying, which this means that their english dialogue needs to be expanded.

Overall it is a very good game. If Xenosaga is enjoyable, then this one is way more.

This game was a limited edition for as long as I remember then came greatest hits. I had tried to play this game for years. I would say it is right up there with Final Fantasy 7. This is definitely one of the best RPG's on the PS1. I love the way You can fight as a gear and as a human. It has good fighting elements as well. The bosses are unique, and some of the enemy gears are just as cool as your gear. This is my most favorite RPG game on the Ps1 next to Star Ocean and final fantasy 7.

I took a chance and bought this game for my son for his Playstation. I have never bought a game online anywhere that says it is used in perfect condition. I am leary about these kinds of purchases. I can say that my son loves the game. Had it not been for the fact that it was not in the cellophane wrap, we would not have been able to tell that it had ever been used. I decided to buy this on Ebay because I couldn't find this game anywhere else. The game was very reaonably priced and there is absolutely nothing that he dislikes.

Xenogears is an outstanding but oft-ignored RPG. It can overtake any Final Fantasy on the basis of story quality, and it offers a solid combat system that features two modes of fighting (normal and "Gear"). Although Xenogears was released in 1998, its stylized anime graphics are easier to appreciate than the outdated cubism of other RPGs released at the same time (e.g. Final Fantasy VII).

As a note of caution, the story picks up steam on Disc 2, but somewhat at the detriment to gameplay. Still, Disc 1 should pack enough punch for any action junky.

In short, Xenogears is one of this RPG fan's favorites.

i recently pushased the xenogears game, and was impressed on how well maintain it was. its in perfect conditon, and everything i expected to be and more.

An excellent game and suprisingly difficult. The most striking element of this game is the interesting story, with great character development and a seemingly psychotic main character. The graphics are grainy but acceptable. The biggest flaw of this game is that the writers tried to be philosophical but failed rather harshly, maybe it made more sense in Japanese? The build-up throughout the game did not lead to a very satisfying climax. Also, most of the ultimate gears were inferior to previous versions.

It is what you call, blaspheme and a curse if you compare the storyline of the game to the actual Book of Life, the Holy Bible. "Ye shall be as gods" is a quote for the virus that plagued the ship in the beginning. One of the plots in the game goes like this: "God made man and woman... then Adam and Eve plucked and ate the apples from the Forbidden Tree... casted down from heaven, man rebelled against God in form of machines known as 'Gears' and defeated God..." That will offend the religious factions of this time, but other than that, this RPG is one of the greatest RPGS of all time. Read more of the other game reviews about the superb gameplay, graphics, and storyline which I give a 10/10 for each criteria. An excellent game beyond measure and one of Squaresoft's Finest works of art during 1998, my favored year of video games ever. This game over-shadows Namco's revived series of "Xenosaga" and it fails compared to Xenogears.

One thing i love about this game is how in the middle of combat you can actualyl brign your robot into combat. This game is awesome and a most have, since I had it before btu sold it. I actually bought thsi game since its' a classic rpg and the other ones they made like xenosaga which I don't like, and tried it as well. One thign is though when I brought the item it had a crack in the top left but it was cool, and wasn't bothered so I replaced it with another one. A great game, and if there's anoyone who likes rpg, I suggest this.

This is one of ny favorite games of all time. The games was in perfect, like new condition and I didn't have to wait that long for the game to come to my house. The best seller I have delt with.

I bought Xenogears when it was first released. I played it for 5 hours when I bought a new Final Fantasy and I started playing that instead. And so years went by... After I finished played Final Fantasy X my friend, not trying to be pushy, suggested I play Xenogears. So I put it in, and started playing. The first 5-10 hours was very good, and made me like the game very much. What followed after the first 10 hours surpassed my expectations for any game I had ever played. The game had reached a level of excellence like nothing I had seen before. I had goosebumps half the time I was playing it. The story was simply rivetting.

Have you ever played a game, watched a movie, or read a book that made you totally forget your surroundings and feel that you are a part of it? Well this game does that. It has a story like no other. It's very deep, developed, and cerebral. The characters are developed so well that you feel close to all of them. The combination of all this makes for the best story I have ever experienced.

Since this game came out after Final Fantasy 7 on Playstation, the graphics may not look much compared to the new games on PS2, PS3, Xbox, or Xbox360. But this game is so amazing, and the story so enthralling that when you are playing the game you will see it in your mind's eye. Your imagination will enhance what you see, since you are so absorbed in it's universe. And I don't think there is a next-gen system out there that can look better than what you can imagine so I give the graphics a 10/10.

As for the music, I have to say that it plays an integral role in the experience. Most of the tracks are simply brilliant, and enhance the mood and the storytelling experience ten fold. It is so good, that I own the soundtrack, and to this day still get goosebumps when listening to some tracks.

As far as the gameplay is concerned it's very fun. Add to this the brilliant story and the phenomenal score, and you have the most amazing game ever made.

This has to be the best RPG in the world. I know people might dispute the fact but it's true. The storyline is riveting and can not be compared to modern day RPG's. It's worth every penny and I still can't stop playing it. It's plain and simple, if you haven't played it, then go play it.

from the moment that i playd this game... i fell in love with it. it was the 1st of its kind back then. the battle system was the 1st of its kind and how cool is it to battle robots with robots of your own( calld gears ). not sayin to much that will spoil the game but you wont regret buying this. its a must for game collector.

The reason I first became interested in Xenogears was a referral from a friend. He RAVED about it. At first i thought he was nuts, but now I'M the one who's obsessed with Xenogears!
A truly well-balanced role-playing game. The story takes you to places you've never thought possible! If you like anime, then you'd LOVE Xenogears! Speckled throughout the story and text are fully animated videos, as if you're actually playing one of your favorite anime movies!
And lets not forget the fun factor. Xenogears has martial arts-based battles with possible combos that can dispose of your toughest bosses in one shot! If executed correctly, you can do your favorite combo after combo after combo for maximum damage. And then there's the Gear Battles, when you're piloting gigantic meca and beating the snot out of the bad guys!
PSOne and PS2 compatable gameplay (but you cannot load your saved games from your PSOne memory card to your PS2, and for some odd reason you can't save your game progress on the PS2 memory card. So, if you want to save AND load your game, then you have to use the PS or PSOne console...sorry)
