Xanadu (DVD, 1998, Widescreen)

I grew up in the 80's, and I remembered watching this movie when I was younger and I loved it. When I saw that you could buy it on dvd, I purchased it right away. I have watched it several times and it is still a good movie. It takes you back to the 80's.

Ah, the early 80's--when combining disco and roller skating was hip. It's funny, I don't remember this movie being so goofy when I was in love with it as an early adolescent. But to enjoy this movie as a nostalgic adult, you must be a true Olivia Newton-John fan (and even then, that may be pushing it). I will save this movie to show to my daughter as she comes into age with the hope that she will enjoy singing the memorable music with me! However, I don't think I'll be watching it on my own again...

This is a modern day musical. It deals with the desire of a mythological character, Olivia Newton John, a "muse" that would like to become mortal.
Along the way she meets up with the famous Gene Kelly who can still dance and sing as he did in the 40's and 50's. The music and dance numbers are very entertaining. This movie contains several of Olivia's greatest hits. This is a good "family movie".

I love XANADU, I love Oliva Newton-John. This was one of my all time favorite musicals, movies I grew up in the 80's. The DVD was in excellent condition and I play and dance to it alot. It makes me feel youthful and my daughter (she is 4) she loves to sing and dance with me when I watch it. Thank you.

Anyone born into the Gen-X era will appreciate this trip down memory lane. Perfect movie to watch on a rainy day or sick day!

I bought this DVD because I liked the movie and they don't show it on TV. I think the movie got a terrible review and it is actually a very good musical. Buying it on ebay saved me a lot of money and I didn't have to go to all the different stores to see if it was available. I buy quite often from ebay with confidence.

My 13 year old is a musical buff. I thought she might enjoy this and it was difficult to find in store. Received it quickly and she really enjoyed it!

WE loved the movie. It was one of our sons favorite movie. We lost our son in Iraq and it held alot of memories for myself. I wanted to see it again.My son and I collected DVD's and We had a set of Bradford Angel's and after my son was killed, my home was robbed they took all the boxes marked Bradford, but there was 3 boxes they never touched and it was part of a collection we had done together. I found all but 2 of them. I have alot of wonderful memories that someone tried to take. God has helped me survive and this was a movie we watched together just brought back a time I needed. Betty

If you love ELO you will love this movie. It has bad actors and a bad story but the music is great and Olivia Newton John was good.

I love this movie, it was one of my favorites when I was a girl. I have been wanting to buy this movie for a very long time and couldn't find it anywhere. I am so glad I went to eBay, this was my first time buying on eBay.

I can't believe that I found this movie on DVD. I have grown up watching it and to me this movie will never get old.

I loved the theam of this film. A magical love story mixing Gean Kelly of the classic Hollywood musical and all the trappings of the 70's disco era movie.
A must for any film collector. and a great family film.

This is a movie that is inspired by both music and fantasy. It is perfect for all ages to watch, and the music brings back wonderful memories. The lost style of the innocence of movies is something that producers are having a difficult time re-capturing in recent films, even with a rating of
PG. There is something about the chemistry of the actors/actresses in this film that make it memorable; Music Legend, Gene Kelly, and early 80's pop icon, Olivia Newton John, have amazing "magic" together as part of the cast. It is well worth the purchase, and a shame to have lost this type of art in film; the innocence. Even if the population of the world enjoys being shocked, there is something about innocence that will always be on top, and without the pressure of trends of swearing, blatant sexuality, and explosives to fuel the box office sales. A movie that can inspire a smile and a good feeling from people is worth a thousand box office giants. Xanadu is one of the few that have not lost that ability, and can still maintain the feeling of being totally fulfilled by a story that is timeless.

Xanadu is definetly a classic, with great music, and a good message. It helps to remind people to keep their dreams alive.

I was surprised who quickly the product arrived. It was in good condition. I did not having a problem playing the DVD, since sometimes you do have to be careful when purchasing older movies online. I decided to buy it because I could not find this particular movie in any stores and it was something that was a part of my childhood so I'm glad I did and was very satisfied with the purchase.

I saw this film during it's original release when I was 8 years old. Gene Kelly and Oliva Newton John, two of the best when it comes to song and dance. Over all this film is great. There is a lot of cheesy special effects and a very simple storyline but it was filmed in the 80's. The music is what saved the film. Great soundtrack and original ideas. If you expect very little from this film, I think you will be glad you watched it.

I used to watch this movie a lot when I was a kid (It came out in 1980 I think). The "story" of the movie is not what makes this a great movie though. It's the soundtrack that makes this a movie to watch again. ELO has some great songs in the movie, and Olivia Newton-John sings a handful herself including the title song. I found myself remembering most of the words and singing along even though I haven't seen the movie since the 80's. There are many movies from my childhood that I remember being great, but then when I've watched them as an adult they've been a disappointment. Xanadu is NOT one of these. I watched it alone and then with my friend who is 40. It was more fun sharing it with someone else who hadn't seen it since they were young. If you've never seen this you may not enjoy it as much, but watch it anyway.
