If only the second film had been this good...

The X-Files: Fight the Future was the last great X Files effort as the remainder of the series' run and eventual sequel declined steadily in terms of consistent quality. Definitely for X-Files fans though this one may be accessible to those who are brought up to speed. Well-directed, edited and acted, this adventure reminds me why the X-Files was great and will work well for anyone who thrilled to the adventures of Mulder and Scully in their 3rd and 4th seasons. I found the video quality average, a definite step up from the previous DVD releases but not as pristine as something shot in the past few years. Audio was excellent, lots of nice bass and surround effects. The supplements are everything you will find from previous DVD releases and are sadly NOT in HD. You'll have to select the theatrical cut of the film to access most of them. This disc does include an extended version but nothing really stood out to me as being all that different. If you're new to the X-Files please consider watching the series in its entirety up until season 5 before checking this out. If you've seen the latest film and somehow managed to enjoy it this one is highly recommended as it actually features something paranormal/unexplained. The truth was out there and this is where it really shined.
