I Was Wrong by Jim Bakker, Ken Abraham (1996, Hardcover)

I started this book without much knowledge of the events leading to the demise of PTL. I had on occasion watched the Jim and Tammy Bakker show in the 80's but that was the extent of it. More recently I began watching the New Jim Bakker show and wanted to know more about the past events. I think anyone following Jim Bakker now should read this book. I am now a more devout Christian because of it. I feel priviledged to have read of his past transgressions that but by the grace of God could be myself or anyone else. Knowing of his past sins gives me a much clearer picture of my own past sins and the Almighty Grace of God who will not only forgive them but wash them away forever. I praise with Jim and Lori Bakker everyday of the week at 1pm. I would miss them because they inspire me more and more on a daily basis and I pray they will continue to do so.

I have no reservations regarding my support of their ministry that can reach so many hurting & lost souls for Jesus. God Bless Jim & Lori Bakker

This lengthy book by Jim Bakker includes remarkable details about the series of events that followed his arrest after scandals at PTL. Mr. Bakker's honest, from-the-heart writing style allows the reader to fully experience the daily prison routine he endured. He clearly states why he thought he was innocent of the initial charges, but also tells the story of how he went through a remarkable psychological and spiritual transition while serving time in federal prison. Specifically, he warns of the dangers of "prosperity theology". I would recommend this book to those who only knew the story as it was superficially presented by the tabloids. An honest, sincere, and excellent work of writing from Mr. Bakker.

Very straight and to the point. It's great to finally hear an apology and the truth. I wish it came sooner.

Jim Bakker is ,in my humble opinion, the most misunderstood man of God living today. This book was a wonderful and reviting read, one you could not put down. His honesty is suprising as well his remarkable story. Ive purchased 3 copies to share with others, non chistians as well as churchgoers have come away with positive feelings for Rev Bakker and the unfairness of his imprisonment. I will continue to share this book with others as his story should be shared.If you need a copy of this book ask...I just might have an extra.Please let me know your feelings about this review.
