Writers Reference by Diana Hacker (2003, Paperback, Spiral)

Any college student taking any English class should have this book, regardless of what class it is. This book covers everything from proper punctuation and grammar to MLA format to proper citation in a paper. Everything is neatly organized, and finding a subject is a snap with tabbed indexes. This book will help anybody who is in a writing pinch. This book has helped me outside of the English class I got it for, almost more so than when I was in the actual class that required the text! This book will make life, and that essay you're trying to write, a whole lot easier.

AWESOME book. It is very useful when you find yourslef confused about the various writting styles (MLA, APA, CMS, etc) and for a writting class. I wish i'd had this book last semester.

I brought the book for my college writing class. I didn't think it was all that important until my professor told us that everything we needed to know about grammar was in the book. So one day when doing some homework I tried the book out and it helped so much more and I started to learn a lot better. I have defiantly improved on my writing skills. It is a book to keep even after I am done with the class.

This book was purchased for a college english class. It was about $24 cheaper via ebay and was received in good condition, a little late, but has been very useful.

I paid for this item less than five dollars total with shipping, and I got the book in mint condition there is very little wear from it sitting on shelf, I would reccomend that anyone that needs help in formatting there essays, and help with their bibliographies.

I bought this book for my first literature class in collge. At first, I thought "Oh wow, a book on how to punctuate sentences...I learned that elementary school!" After having the book for about a month and by my side for five papers, I realized that it wasn't just a book about punctuation, it was a book filled with everything that anyone could ever possibly need when writing, no matter what format you're having to use. This book contains MLA, APA and CMS formats along with sections on composing and revising, document design, sentence style, word choice, grammatical sentences, ESL trouble spots, punctuation, mechanics, researching and a basic grammar index. It's truely the silver lining in the clouds of writing and worth it's weight in gold!!!

I purchased this book for one of my employees who needed to finish her senior term paper and was struggling on how to site sources. It arrived a couple weeks before her due date and she passed the paper with flying colors, which lead her to graduating with honors.

I totally reccommend this book for any student (high school or college) who has to write and wants to do well with it. On a scale of 1-10, I give this book a 20! It's an amazing book and Diana Hacker did a wonderful job composing it!

The seller told me it was in pretty god conditions, but in reality it was practically falling apart. The first pages were stuck because some liquid fell on it and there was a lot of doodle writing in many pages. I was totally disappointed.

I used to own this book and then lost it, so I bought a new one. It by far is one of the best books to own, especially for students. The other that I recommend is Elements of Style. The book got here faster than I expected and is in good shape. I also really liked the price

Required for a class I was taking, way cheaper than new, excellent reference. Decided to not pump money into school's bookstore with ridiculous pricing. Book is standard reference for grad classes. Will be able to use throughout my schooling, and keep after graduation as a reference.

As the title says, this book is all about writing. It has definitely helped me, as a foreigner. It explains all steps of writing and citing (MLA).

It is exactly what I need for writing term papers. I like the organization and the tabs for quick access to information.

Pros:
This is a very good reference. Neat, easy to read and understand. Price is fair. Typical examples. Great college textbooks.

Cons:
You may not find all examples you want.
