A downhill run.
Wristcutters misfires more than it fires properly, but it fires properly so much it is above average in what it delivers.
Make the worst assumptions about the afterlife, then discount all but the boring ones-- and you make the concept of Hell almost attractive. The story plods along a bit too slow, it bores you when it shows how bored the characters are, but it finally stumbles into a chance to climb out of the rut, to be something.
Interesting, some neat turns, and better than a lot of higher grossing work.
