Worms Eat My Garbage by Mary Appelhof (1997, Paperback, Revised)

This was just what I was looking for...and at a price that was just as good. I have had the book less than four hours and have already gotten some ideas out of it! Thanks for everything.

I read the library's copy of this book first, then decided I NEEDED my own copy.
Book contains complete details about the processes involved in vermiculture, easy to follow specific instructions about how to set up your own home vermicomposting system, and troubleshooting home vermiculture problems, all presented in an interesting and fun way. All the information you need to get started on your own, including some places to get supplies is covered. Could be the start of a great project for a science class or scouts too, since the book is written in a "kid friendly" way - even though the level of complexity during sections about building and set up of the system would require at least some adult input. Great little book!

When I received the book I read it cover to cover...I was so excited to get started so I immediately ordered my red worms and got my bin ready. I applied the concepts of the book as suggested however I'm finding my worm compost to be smelly and not as successful as I would like it to be. My bin has also been invaded by every bug imaginable including the largest slugs I've ever seen. Because of that, I went back to the book and applied changes suggested and still can't seem to figure out what I'm doing improperly. Not to say the book is at fault, I just haven't figured out how to make my bin successful yet. Still working on it and hoping I can be as successful as the author at worm composting.
