This movie rightly deserved the Awards it earned for special effects, for it is far ahead of it's time, as this movie was the fore-runner to all of the catastrophic films we have today. This film is very much worth viewing, and it has been recently resurected to DVD format.
The movie shows an impending Collision With Earth and A Runaway Star which
signals the destruction Of all mankind, the government turns a deaf ear, ignoring the pleas of the scientist. Meanwhile private companies finance the building of a spaceship, which will carry a select few people to another planet to begin a new civilization.
As doomsday approaches, they race against time and the panic of those who will be left behind. The potential pulverizing impact of the collision, the massive tidal waves and devastating earthquakes, and the final cosmic smashup make a chilling panorama of disaster. The balance between human and planetary drama is excellently maintained as the movie builds to its fascinating, unforgettable climax.

This movie was and is still the best science friction picture i have ever seen. The story and the theme was realistic to the time its was realest.

) Classic SF movie of the 50s. Good special effects and story line for the time. Not dependent on sensationalism to drive the plot. Up there with other classics like Forbiden Planet, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and Invaders From Mars. Get some popcorn and enjoy it!

) This is a great science fiction classic. The movie is better than the book. There was a follow up book called "After Worlds Collide" which would have made a great movie! The facinating thing is that the books were written in 1933. Most early science fiction was corny, but these stories were great for when they were written. I didn't find that the books were easy to read! I didn't care for the writing style of the authors. I loved the books in spite of the writing style. I read them several times and picked up more each reading.

A True ClassicThis movie is one of the truly great science fiction movies ever made. Without the modern advancements of today the producers of this movie created a classic among classics of Si-Fi motion pictures.

Great classic sci-fi. Nothing like modern day films but still a great classic film days gone by. Good story line and the acting is alright. For the age of the film it has great special effects. In my opinion worth collecting.

I remember seeing this movie when I was a kid so it was kinda like stepping back in time when I viewed it once more. For its' time the movie had great special effects that I imagine was hard to produce in the era. The plot was excellent and well thought out and it (the movie) was bought to a conclusion that mirrored the time-line of the entire movie. I would recommend this movie to sci-fi fans of the 50's and 60's generation. I truthfully don't think the current generation would care for the movie UNLESS they are hard core sci-fi fans.
