Movie Description
Part of the World Almanac Video - Landmark Trials of Modern Ethics series, THE BATTLE FOR A SURROGATE BABY concentrates on the heated trial between Joseph Kaplan and Susan Chamberlain. Paid to have sex with Kaplan in order to conceive his child, the two had an agreement that he would pay her $25,000 in return. Chamberlain gave birth to the child, but later took Kaplan to court in hopes of being granted joint custody. This program invites viewers into the courtroom for an inside peek at the complex legal issues surrounding surrogate mothers and matters of custody.
