Works of Josephus by Flavius Josephus, William Whiston (1987, Hardcover, Illustrated)

This book was actually written many years ago and it a little hard to read. Josephus was one of the laic historians of the Jewish people and doesn't always go along with the Bible. This is a scholarly work. Shy away and get a newer translation if your reading is of general interest. On the flip side, if you want detail and and understand 19th century English. This is the best.

The Works of Flavius Josephus is essential reading for any serious student of ancient history or of the Bible. Do you know what happened to Jerusalem in 70 AD? Josephus gives a detailed account, which you may want to compare to the prophecies in the book of the Revelation. His work also contains a complete history of the Hebrews from Adam to the destruction of Jerusalem. Fascinating reading! It takes a few pages to get used to the old style writing, but doesn't take long to settle in to this wealth of important information written by an eye witness to the final war with Rome.

A lot of my friends and brethren use this book of writings as a study aid for the Bible. The writings are a history of biblical times and give insight into the people and situations of those times.It is very helpful in giving a better understanding of the lives and times of those people,thus giving more understanding of biblical writings.The price was great and the seller delivered in great time and the book was packaged with care.

The book is exactly what I needed, for the right price. Nothing negative about the book or the price.

Great book! I had to read this! With the "SIGN OF THE TIMES" I thought it would be great to refresh my memory and get insight as to what laid ahead for those that remained in Jerusalem 33 years after Jesus prophesy of the destruction of Jerusalem. For those that listened it meant life and for those that did not it meant a horrible death! The WORST DEATH ever, DIS-LOYAL and UN-FAITHFUL to Jehovah! There is a lot of information in this book, but I mainly concentrated on the last days of the Jewish system. As we draw close to the last days I hope we all listen to Jesus words and apply them in our lives to remain faithful to Jehovah and survive this system of things.

Very interesting reading, it fills in some of the gaps I've always wondered about. Bought it for bedtime reading, but it's too interesting to go to sleep to.

If history does come alive for you, and truth is more important that which side won than this book is something worth reading. You never stop learning, finding the leftover tidbits to savor. Enjoy
