Wonderful World by Israel IZ Kamakawiwo'ole (CD, Jun-2007, Mountain Apple)

I am a huge IZ fan (a fan of huge IZ?), and was very anxious to get/listen to the CD. While it contains so many of my favorite tunes, the in-and-out orchestration really distracts from the fun simplicity that is the hallmark of IZ's music. It's as if the orchestra is just waiting for those few quiet moments in the song to jump in and jam--and it really takes away from the effect. Sadly, this is way over the top--too much pilikia fo' dis island boy.
Your mileage may vary. Go back and listen to the "good stuff," earlier IZ, Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau, if you are pining for Bradda IZ.

Love the simplicity of his style with the sophistiction of the background orchestra. The voice of IZ takes me back to the islands. Love this CD!

Good recording quality. Would have liked to hear more traditional Hawaiian songs vs. contemporary ones. If you can find it the VHS tape of IZ is the one that has excellent examples of IS Kamakawiwo'ole's traditional Hawaiian songs.

This is a wonderful cd. I bought it because we were in Hawaii for 10 days this past fall. The cd makes me feel like I am back in Hawaii.

Will definitely buy from this seller again.

If you like easy listing this is the album you won't. The southing effect of IZ is great its easy to listen to over and over. I have 2 albums and hope to get a few more.He was a treasure of Hawaii that in a small way is shared with us.

A very good presentation for someone not well aquainted with IZ. I wish it had his rendition of Over The Rainbow but to see and hear him sing White Sandy Beach is worth the purchase. Good to sit down and watch when you come home from work and want to wind down.
