The Wolf Cub Scout Book was the manual for youth in the Cub Scouting program, age 8 (at least at the time of this manual).
The book contains information about Cub Scouting & the achievements that are to be performed in order to obtain the Wolf Rank (a patch). There are also electives to gain arrow points (more patches) The book has checklists & descriptions for the achievements & electives. The book also has numerous color illustrations. Achievement areas include citizenship, health, collections, conservation, safety, & family fun. ElEctives include codes, machinery, birds, cooking, & fishing.
The 1967 version is not the first or the most recent of Wolf manuals. The first version came out in 1930, when Cub Scouting became an official BSA program. There were also versions in 1936, 1943, 1947 (red cover, BSA catalog #3230), 1954 (blue & yellow cover, BSA catalog #3230), & then came 1967 (red & yellow cover, BSA catalog #3230). Each version has had several printings, due to demand (large number of Cub Scout participants recruited each year). A 1976 printing of the 1967 copyright has Library of Congress Catalog Card #67-14539 & an ISBN #0--8395-3230-X.
Post-1967 versions include 1978 (white cover, ISBN #0-8395-3207-5, BSA catalog #3207), the Cub Scout 50th anniversary edition in 1980 (white cover, copyright 1978, ISBM 0-8395-3230, BSA catalog #3230), 1986 (mostly purple cover, BSA catalog #3234), 1998 (Akela hiking cover, BSA catalog #33106), & 2003 (Akela & flag cover, ISBN #0-8395-3450-7, BSA catalog #33450).
Many of the various versions, including printings of the 1967 version, carry an attached supplement for parents. In the 1967 version it was called "Wolf Parent's Supplement, had an introduction to Scouting & information about Drug Abuse. Recent versions are called "How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide" & address that topic specifically.
Youth in the program now should use the latest manual. However, the various versions of the youth handbooks (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Lion, & Webelos) have become popular to collect by Cub Scouters.
