The legendary Vincent Price stars as Matthew Hopkins, the infamous 17th century witchhunter. After years of unchallenged torture and sadistic murder, the witchfinder finally meets his match when until he runs up against an army officer who vows revenge. This film was released in the United States as THE CONQUERER WORM to make the most of Price's association with his popular Edgar Allan Poe movies, even though the film has nothing to do with Poe's work. The cult following of WITCHFINDER GENERAL is well deserved. It is highly effective and well done. Get out the popcorn and get set for creepy fuin as only Vincent Price can deliver!
