Synopsis
In his first foray into holiday literature, Wally Lamb depicts a 1960s Christmas in his fictional haven of Three Rivers, Connecticut. The action swirls around ten-year-old Felix Funicello, cousin to beach blanket starlet Annette Funicello, as he frantically tries to keep up with distractions such as chores, schoolwork, and duties at his family's lunch counter while his love life officially gets under way. The dual arrival of a substitute teacher from Quebec and a Russian exchange student open Felix's eyes to the wider world and promise to make this a Christmas he will never forget.

Publisher's Note
The author of I Know This Much Is True shares a holiday novella that begins by focusing on a feisty parochial school fifth grader named Felix Funicello as Christmas approaches in 1964, then propels readers from the past to the present so that they might measure what America has gained and what it has lost. Simultaneous.

Industry Reviews
"Sweet and old-fashioned, Lamb's Christmas yarn will appeal to readers wistful for more innocent days."
(10/15/2009)

"Lamb's vividly detailed portrait of the 1960s and the inner workings of a Catholic schoolboy's mind puts his first Christmas book on par with his previous three novels. Fans -- and Lamb newbies -- will love it."
