Synopsis Forty-year-old widow Joyce lives in Idlewilde, Michigan, where she works with young black women, teaching them to be assertive and true to themselves. She runs afoul of a dangerous family of criminals, the Lattimore clan, after raising the consciousness of young single mom Nikki Lattimore. She also develops a crush on a handsome high school counselor named Nate. But is she ready to date again? As she and Nate grapple with their issues, the Lattimores stir up dangerous trouble.
