This is a collection of music from what many consider to be the best police drama series ever to appear on television. "The Wire", has almost a cult following in both the U.S. & Great Britain. This disc contains a representative sample of music heard during the 5 years of the show. The selections cover a wide range of styles from bluesy folk to ghetto hip-hop & rap. Excellent compilation of music from The Wire series... Love the variety in how the theme song is presented, changing each season. This is a great CD to add to any collection; particularly, for those who are "Wire" junkies life us!

This CD has excerpts from various seasons inbetween really rhythmic songs.

The songs are taken from various episodes ranging in different styles of music. Examples: irish american, fast hard rock, r&b, gansta rap, and russian? I think.

I play it often in my car and at home. It's always a crowd favorite when I play the cd at a gathering. I highly recommend this cd. It's too diverse to be disappointed.

If you loved the show, then you will love the music. Also there are small dialogues between actors before each song. It will so remind you of the HBO production. Too bad the ending was so final...would have made a great sequal.
Also, buy the DVD's and relive it again.

Chillingly realistic with some of the funkiest music ever heard on a HBO Series. This CD is as cunning, slick and well thought out as the series itself. From the Five Blind Boy's of Alabama's brilliant "Way Down On The Hole" (and the other CDversions are equally great), Solomon Burke's "Assume The Position" The Pogue's "The Body Of An American" to "What You Know About Balitmore" Ogun. Feat Phathead, and Stellios Kazantzides "Efuge Efuge" all interspersed with series soundbites (best of which is "Omar's coming")to remind you where the compilation came from.

All The Pieces Really Do Matter on this CD and the fun never ends in Charm City where you can get your Benz hubcaps ripped off outside one of the finest museums in the country, Baltimore had its own reality TV series where local politicians and a former Police Commissioner had roles,this is the place where corruption still rules, and the main characters could be readily identified as we, the people, all the way to the State House in Annapolis could pick out just who the they were based on. An eye opening series produced, written and directed by a team unafraid to make their presence known and heighten awareness of what's really going on. The series and the CD rocks but above all - it's B'(alti)more Hon, still shining - Way, way down in the hole and totally irresistible!
