Wintersong * by Sarah McLachlan (CD, Oct-2006, Arista Records USA)

I really don't care for holiday music, as a rule. This CD is a welcome break from the cheery jingles and overplayed standards one hears this time of year. Though she covers some Christmas standards, the arrangements are fresh. Of particular note is her bluesy-to-Middle Eastern fusion of "The First Noel/Mary Mary."

As always, Ms. McLachlan's voice is lovely. The tone of the CD is pensive, comtemplative, laid-back, wistful...exactly what a fan of Ms. McLachlan would hope or expect to hear on her winter/holiday CD. She will expand her fan base with this release to include people who enjoy really good holiday music.

If you enjoy Sarah McLachlan's music, or great holiday music in general, add this to your collection. You won't regret it.

Although I found this to be a little slow and boring...That is also what makes it quite good. Definately not the typical renditions of these songs...Her moody style is a refreshing change from the norm."River" and "What Child Is This"(Greensleeves)are the highlight's for me...B-

Lovely voice--great to listen to during the Yuletide season and on any winter's night. One particular song I had heard by Sarah became one of my favorites. She also does a great version of River by Joni Mitchell.

The versatility, imagination in renditions of old favorites to bring them up to date while maintaining the sacred & happy mood of the Holiday Season.

This is one excellent CD great for christmas. Sarah arranges her own style to some of these songs. My favorite song is River a Joni Mitchell song.

This is another awesome collection of songs by Sarah McLachlan. She has such a unique and beautiful voice.

I bought this item on E-Bay because I really wanted this CD and the price was very reasonable.

Sarah Mclachlin has the voice of an Angel. Her version of Happy Christmas is so beautiful it not only honors the late, great John Lennon, but it brings tears to your eyes. Sarah McLachlin's voice makes these Christmas songs something special...you only wish that there were more of them on this CD.

I LOVE this cd. I have to think that it is one of the mose beautiful Christmas cd's that I've heard in a very long time. I fell so in love with it that I gave it to several of my friends for a gift, so that they too could enjoy the beauty of this music. In my opinion, Sarah is one of the true artists of today. She puts on an awesome concert as well as great cd's. I will always have her music in my home.

I think I would have loved this CD if I had actually received it. I was issued a refund with no explanation.

I was in need of music for the holidays, and this cd caught my eye. I am very pleased with it. We had family around of all ages, and everyone enjoyed it. A nice mix of songs and so easy to listen too. We'll surely be playing it for holidays to come, but I won't wait till then :)

This Christmas CD is one of the most beautiful of all the Christmas music I own and I have 50 Christmas CDs! Two of the best selections are "River" and "In the Bleak Mid-Winter," as well as "Wintersong." Sarah's voice has an incredible range and captures the essence of the holiday season in tranquility. I highly recommend this CD!
