Album Notes Embodying the sunny, carefree sound of mid-1960s Southern California, the Association trod a fine line between beautiful, precisely calibrated harmonies and the psychedelic weirdness of their era. This brief best-of is comprised mostly of the former, with hits like "Windy" and "Along Comes Mary" (admittedly themselves not entirely free of druggy references) bookending heady exercises in vocal harmony like "Looking Glass" and the progressive protest song "Requiem for the Masses." "Enter the Young" is goofily innocent, but the band's delicate harmonies and intricate arrangements are best shown in the gorgeously dreamy "On a Quiet Night."
