For anyone who wants to realy know what a windtalker is, this movie is ideal.
For it explains alot about world war II and the navajo indians part in the war. My great Uncle James, was a Sgt. In the Marine Corps, and he was assigned to a windtalker, he never discussed the job. Years later, in the 60s, he made a brief comment, that the navajo's never got the recognition they justly deserved. But, now, here with this movie, you can see for yourself, the justice was delivered. Adam Beach plays a windtalker. Using the navajo language and military jargon they confounded the japanese radiomen in their own language calling in air and artillery strikes. The pains and sorrows they suffered along with theGIs that were assigned to them. The code was so important to the us military, that the order were to shoot the windtalker, to protect the code. The military never stopped to realize that the navajo indian would have died under torture to protect the code, they really didn't need any body guards.
