Windtalkers (DVD, 2002)

A WW2 movie about how the Americans used Navaho Indians & their language as a code to throw off the japanese. Overall it was a pretty good flick. Cages charactor spent way too much time dwelling about the past mission that he messed up (slowed the movie down, but vital for the plot). They really dident make much of an effort to have him become friends w/ the Indian he was protecting. It just seems to happen all of a sudden. There was some pretty cool special effects for the battle sequences.

Windtalkers is worth the watch. Nicolas cage is excellent as well as the rest of the cast. The movie takes your through the true sequence of events where American Indians used their "Code" or their native language to deliver messages during WWII for our forces. Although desperately needed and an definite asset to our country -- the indians (Windtalkers) were not appreciated due to their race/ethnicity. The movie follows their plight, how they were perceived and how they helped win the war. A movie for men, women and older children.

I bought this movie because it concerns a topic which remains relatively unknown to the general public: the special contributions made by some Native Americans to their country during the Second World War. There was not a lot of detailed information about the specifics of the job done by the Navajo Code Talkers but this was, after all, a drama and not a documentary. It does address some of the ignorance and bigotry which was prevalent in much of American society at the time.

The movie was, I thought, reasonably accurate in its historical and technical details. The battle scenes were certainly graphic enough to convey the message that war is, indeed, Hell. All in all, I thought this was an entertaining and, to some extent, thought-provoking movie.

Windtalkers is an excellent portrayal of the history of the Code Talkers. Does a very good job of exposing the prejudice faced by the Indians who played such a pivotal role in the war. Although the characters are fictional, they are definitely believable, and the assault on Saipan seems to be accurate. It was an eye-opener in many ways. I thought both Adam Beach & Nicolas Cage did an excellent job in bringing this story to life.

I Don't really know what to say other than it's just a really good movie and i'd recomend it to anyone who likes war movies.

This was a very good movie staring Nicolas Cage. It is a war movie but it holds your attention, especially if you like Nicolas Cage movies. An oldie but goodie!

I bought the movie Windtalkers on dvd so i could start a collection of war movies.The movie is a exciting,that will make you think of the men and women that had to go through that hard time of war.It may or may not make you think of how lucky we are to live in a great country of ours.

This is one great Movie and shows how a small group of native americans helped to win the war using there own language.

This was a good movie...being a war story it was a little bloody. But overall I thought it was good.... not for kids tho'....

This movie has some great action, an awsome story, and did I mention its based off of true military events? The wind talkers were Navaho indians who were radio operators in WWII.

I love true stories. This movies is based on the true story of the Navajo Code Talkers WW II. It makes you want to know more about the Code Talkers.
GREAT MOVIE. I am glad I got it. I have watch it 2 times already.

My own Great Uncle Jimmy was in WWII, and he was a Marine, he didn't talk much until the later half of the 60s, about what he did. Except, when he did mention it, it was top-secret. He was to keep an eye on his navajo code talker.My mother said it would make a great movie.Jimmy said: that will be the day. They will never get the full recognition they deserve.
John Woo and NIcholas Cage, did a fairly good job, in breaking the audience into a small story line, explaining the job of the windtalker.A language the japanese did not know about.They knew english, but they did not know the navajo language.A language, so old that only Navajo's know. The Navajo Indians did a great service to our Country in helping the war by using their own language on radio waves that the japanese were willing to kill any american marine or soldier to get to that language.
Great battle effects of Saipan, I heard a Marine tell me at the theatre, it was real close to what it was really like.Tex a character in the film, yes, there were rednecks in wwII as well.
Overall, a small story line to explain the advantages of having the Navajo in the war, to aide a winning and decisive plan.
I gave this film a 5.
Great special effects.Great acting. BUt, foremost, it was given a 5, for the Navajo's who never really will come out and say they deserve their own film.
