Long, but worthwhile

A period piece from just before WW II until the end of that war. Well worth watching for its carefully crafted development of so many of the characters. Everyone is believable, even those who fervently deny that the Germans could possibly be as bad as the stories say. A mixture of sadness and depression, joy and relief that is impossible to clearly explain in a brief review. If you want to understand life better, see The Winds of War.
