The Wind and the Lion (DVD, 2004)

I love the price. That I did not have to leave home to find the movies that are hard to find. And to find it new not used.

My husband said this was a great movie - he wasn't wrong! Sean Connery as always is a treat to watch (in more than one way!). Candace Bergen was also great. Loved the story line. If you like movies set in "historical" background, you'll love this movie.

The Wind and the Lion was purchased at a good price and it was in great condition when it arrived.
I would definitely buy from the seller again.

This is the perfect romantic and action movie for the Christian woman or any woman that openly or "secretly" desires to experience a woman heroine that is an exellent mother, intelligent and quick witted, being kidnapped by a very masculine, handsome, and "sage" Sean Connery and his men during the time of Teddy Roosevelt's presidency without the obligatory sexual inuendoes breaking the continuity of the story. It isabout a man's dedication to his faith, their Bedouine rules, and a cause playing against a strong-minded, moral, and Democratic woman's dedication to her beliefs and the American view of right and wrong. They become very close and respectful friends and see value in each other's ideals. The children, a boy and girl, are beautifully portrayed against the action-filled background of Bedouine life as seen through their young eyes. Costuming is wonderful, actors are perfectly chosen right down to the more visible of the smaller characters. Your heart soars and races, you laugh, and are deeply touched by many of the conversations and actions between Sean Connery and Candace Bergan.

Real entertaing movie! Great performances all around. If you love Krags, you will enjoy the fighting scenes. Candice Bergman is a beauty too!

An old movie but a GREAT ONE that has been largely forgotten !!

I bought the item two weeks ago. it was shipped oversea and came to me in a week. Also, in good shape.

Sean Connery is always worth watching. Bought this because it was recommended by a friend as being a good period piece with relatively little historical revisionism. That's true, and if we start throwing out "Historical" films for not being factual we'll have nothing to do at night but procreate.

Hmmmm - instead of Welfare, how about free movies?

This is a fantastic movie. Sean Connery and Brian Kieth do a wonderful job portraying their characters. There is action and excitement, naturally a beautiful woman. What more could you ask for in entertainment. I would recommend this movie to any audience.

Superbly entertaining story. So what if we play fast and loose with history. Great combination of drama, action, and comedy. Excellent acting. Connery is at his best here, and Candace Bergen is also top notch. I am a college Arabic teacher, and I bought this movie to show my students. Again, we play fast and loose with culture and traditions, but the Arabic is authentic and translates perfectly, and much of the cultural aspects of the movie are correct. I highly recommend that everyone set aside two and a half hours an enjoy this very entertaining movie.

Though not a big budget movie, it is a small gem. Watching our Marines do their job in spite of inept
politicians, sure hits the mark. Brian Keith does a great job as Teddy. When he's in the wilderness and
talks of killing the bear, if you pay attention, it makes to much sense. When his daughter realizes his
respect for his enemies, that is the missing link of today's problems. People have gotten soft, elitist.
They feel that just their words of brilliance will stop the kind of man that would "rule the World".
Sean Connery never lets me down.

Sean Connery and Candence together what a pair wonderful entertainment.
Candence is a female lagend right up there with kate h. and sally fields, what these woman do for the female is beyond words. Then there is Sean Connery how sexy is this guy my goodness, he saved the day.

great old movie, my vhs version was destroyed in a fire so I was lucky to find a replacement in DVD.

Classic movie, with great cast and based off of historical accounts with the Barbary Wars, the Marine Corps, and President Theadore Roosevelt

If movies were judged on historical or technical accuracy, none of the movies made today would make the grade. This is one of my favorite movies because it makes you feel good when you watch it. It includes everything you need: a strong, virtuous woman; a man who cares about honor & is a protector; a relationship that is built on mutual admiration rather than time in bed; and a president that is politically incorrect & loved for it. The visuals are stunning and the window to a different time & culture are highly entertaining. It is time well spent.

Excellent service. The movie is great. It is an excellent loosely truth based story of adventure and history. The characters are well developed and believable. This is one of Sean Connerys best films.

The script is weak and the acting is rather poor, but if you are a fan of Sean Connery and/or Candice Bergen, pop yourself some microwave popcorn and sit back and enjoy the nonsense.

Ms. Bergen does a pretty fair job of looking like a strong woman facing adversity when she and her two children are kidnaped. Connery does a weak job of looking like a Berber chieften, but my wife is in love with him anyway--in fact she fell in love with him in the theater when this film first came out.

Brian Keith as Teddy Roosevelt is laughable, but that's chiefly the fault of the poor script.

In the end, everything turns out all right--but it's not true to history or to normal human psychology: you'll see what I mean if you watch the whole thing. (I'm resisting the temptation to tell you exactly how stupidly it ends.)

The DVD has very little in the way of 'extra' features. The director was a bit of an beginner when he made this film and doesn't seem to have gained wisdom with age.
