A companion piece to "A Wrinkle in Time" featuring Meg Murray, her younger brother Charles Wallace, and family friend Calvin O'Keefe. When Charles becomes convinced that there are dragons in the family vegetable garden, his investigation uncovers not dragons but a mysterious alien. Soon he, Meg, Calvin, and Mr. Jenkins (the unfriendly school principal) are involved in an intergalactic adventure.

With Meg Murry's help, the dragons her six-year-old brother saw in the vegetable garden play an important part in his struggle between life and death.
