I've been looking at bookstores at this book wanting to purchase it. The prices were unbearable. I was thumbing through ebay and found the book for $1. That's a price that can't be beat.

This is a classic work from 1936 that is still valuable to people today. This book has helped my whole family. Reading it in the original edition added to the timelessness of Carnegie's work. This should be mandatory reading in high school and college.

Common sense for those who have forgotten or never had it. Great refresher course for people who need to interact with the public, or for those who want to improve their people skills.

An excellent book for social guidance

My Mother read this Dale Carnegie book in her teens back in the 1940's. She said it helped her come out of her shell; I watched as my sister, in her early teens, went from an angry recluse to a popular social girl, in many clubs serving as president of 2 of them. She claims this very book helped her out of her reclusiveness. My brother who as actually taken many Dale Carnegie courses and has read all his books, has worked for various huge corporations as either a CFO or an executive. He knows Dale Carnegie has been a big reason for his success. I only wished I paid attention to their praises earlier. After finally reading this book, I found in life we often overlook the most obvious answer to our struggles; good socializing skills! This book is easy reading and eye opening. I found that within days of reading it my people skills were greatly improved. I plan on reading 'How to stop worrying and start living' as soon as it arrives in the mail.

This book hits on many points of human behavior. Some of it made me feel down because it is disappointing how selfish people are. Regardless of how I feel, it is the case, and the sooner we can deal with it the sooner we can work well with others.
You will need to change your attitude on yourself and others to benefit. So lower your ego's defenses and get ready for great insight on human behavior.

How to win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegi

I like the looks of the book, it looked brand new on the outside. The binding was not as sturdy as I thought it should. I have not had time to read the book but have started reading it. I bought it because someone that I know is reading it and I figured, it could not hurt.

A MUST READ for management and sales but great for all!
Review created: 01/20/09

The most important book for success, and the one that all other "success" books skirt around is How To Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie first published in 1936. Yes, it is old but the fundamentals that it teaches us about human nature is as true today as it was 73 years ago. Anyone in sales or management needs to keep this book handy, and everyone else should read it at least once.

ALL of the latest "success" books currently on sale at your local book store are likely based on one or more of the lessons demonstrated in this book. Mr. Carnegie had all the bases covered and no new material has surfaced that has not already been taught and explained within this book.

The title seems to suggest a personal building friends sort of thing but this is truly the best business book you can buy for networking people, presenting an idea, motivating people and, well, yes - making friends, building better communications with your spouse, teaching your children a better way to communicate.

This book does not solve all your problems, it gives you the tools to resolve all your problems.

BOTTOM LINE:
Get this book and give some copies out to your boss, your protege and your teenage child.

How to Win Friends and Influence People, Dale Carnegie
Review created: 12/09/08
by:

This is an outstanding book. I have two diplomas from his courses that I took 50 years ago!! He may be gone, but Dale Carnegie is still going strong! Oh, I got this book for my daughter, who is an executive. She was discussing with me, on how to improve her 'dealing with people' skills. I told her since I retired, I'm not into people skill that heavily anymore, forgot alot about it. BUT I told her I would hook her up with a professional, thus the Dale Carnegie book.

  Definite Must Read

Timeless advice for becoming a "people-person." One of the best all time books for improving sales and marketing skills. An easy read with illuminating and often humorous examples.
Dale Carnegie draws inspiration from Benjamin Franklin (of all people) who was our nations first truly gifted diplomat. Carnegie applies the lessons from Franklin's autobiography and improves. This is an important reference book in my library. By far the best book on dealing with people ever written. A definite must read.
