The rivalry between Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova was a high point in the women's game during the 1970s, and their ferocious battles on the Wimbledon courts have become the stuff of legend. In 1978, Evert had the upper hand. With two consecutive Wimbledon titles to her name in the preceding years, she expected to s***** a third title in '78 as she faced Navratilova in the final. After easily taking the first set, it seemed that Evert was on course for victory. But Navratilova fought back to take the second set, demonstrating much of the steely determination that defined her style of play. The third and final set provided a nail-biting conclusion for viewers, and ultimately the game provided one of the best tennis matches the tournament has ever seen. The 1978 final is presented here in its entirety, neatly demonstrating two different yet equally successful approaches to the game of tennis.
