Deep Red II Tour Driver

Bought this driver again for second time because I had owned it about 1 1/2 years ago along with the Wilson Deep Red II Tour irons and Deep Red II Fairway woods. Great clubs for a low handicapper of 10 or below. Tried much more expensive Callaways and Taylor Mades and now back to these Wilson Deep Red II Tour clubs as my primary sticks.
This Tour driver I'm reviewing, is the 9 degree version with the stiff Wilson Graphalloy shaft. These are not their FATshafts, but a conventional graphite shaft with a .355 tip. It's not like the Distance driver, which is perimeter weighted for forgiveness and uses the .460 tip Fatshaft which is designed to get the ball up in the air and to fly straight but is less long than the Tour driver. This Tour version has a bit smaller head and less perimeter weighting than the Distance version and allows you shape your drives for fade or draw as needed.
This Tour version driver will add 10-30 yards to your drives over the Distance version but is more demanding you hit it flush in the center for those results than with the Distance model. It will also tend have a lower and more penetrating ball flight than the Distance version, which is more desirable to advanced players who want to control the ball in windy conditions.
This club sold for $250 new back in 2004. Now it's a bargain club that doesn't get the credit it deserves. Try it. I rate it clearly a keeper and has a place in my bag when the playing condtions warrant the need to keep the ball low, with distance. Tim Q.
