William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice (DVD, 2005)

The DVD was shipped at the last minute; disk has some scratches on it so DVD skips at beginning of movie.

Superior cinematography. Al Pachino's Shylock was stunning.At times the music,although wonderful,overshadowed the dialogue.A very natural and unpretentious presentation of the play.

Shakespeare usually never disappoints. This version with Al Pacino was very well done. Pacino shines in this film, his acting was superb.
The only difficulty was some of the lines used by the actors most were quite easy to understand but a few left one shaking one's head with HUH? Definitely a film to see....don't miss it.

This Move was well done in that the language was understandable,the costuming phenomenal and the setting true to form. The written introduction was exremely helpful in setting the sean & giving an understanding of the times. The acting was also extremely good. We totaly enjoyed it, and understood the play much better then before. Shakespeare's cleave wording during the court scene towards the end keeps one on the edge of their seat.

I bought this to show for my Shakespeare final; it arrived quickly and was in perfect condition, ready to go! My students and I loved it!

My husband just called raving about this version of Shakespeare's work- particularly liked Al Pacino's performance as Shylock - He named it Excellent so now I've got to see it pronto - he even said he'd watch it again w/me which really does me he thought it excellent.
