I could not buy this book in China. It's forbidden. It's the first time I really enjoyed online shopping since I felt more freedom.
Good service, good condition, fast shipping, proper price and good book!

I was able to buy book I couldn't find anywhere in the store in Europe. The item has been delivered within 3 1/2 weeks - thought international shipping took longer than I expected, but the book arrived in great condition and in secured packaging.
I'll definitely use the seller store again for the books' purchase.

  Wild Swans by Jung Chang

This book was a book club choice. I was nervous upon reading the first few pages that it almost felt like a textbook. About an hour later my husband walks by and comments that I didn't have to finish the book in one day. I was hooked!! I found it a book that I didn't want to just speed through it. I would read and think about it a lot. The topics and themes are numerous. The roles of women in China, the government and how it affected it's people, the dynamics of a family, and how trial either breaks up or unites a family. I loved this book and highly recommend it. I borrowed a copy from the library and loved it so much I am now buying it.

This a was a book club selection. It was so difficult to read however that over half of the group didn't even finish it! The character names were difficult to follow and the writing was a bit simplistic and the whole book could have been more condensed with out losing the story's main point. Which was to show the suffering and tragity that the Chinese people have gone through and the evil power that a Communist hold can have on people. If you have a lot of time on you hands and want to learn more about the Chinese culture and history go for it, but I wouldn't recommend the book.

A Most Excellent Read...I Could Not Put It Down!!
Review created: 11/16/06

I have an interest in South and Far East Asia. I had seen this book at Border's several times, but always left without it. I came across a brand new copy on ebay...and could not pass it by! I am so glad that I purchased this book. From start to finish, this biography/autobiography kept me very interested. It reads like a first class novel. The author tells the story of her grandmother, her mother and herself and their individual trials and tribulations in China. From the concubine life of her grandmother, to her mother's experience as a Communist official, and then on to her own slow disillusionment with the Red Guard and Chairman Mao, the author weaves a great tale. For anyone interested in Chinese History...or for anyone else who just loves a great read...this is the book for you!

  The wild swans

The book, The Wild swan by Jung Chang was assigned for my daughter'summer reading assignment. Our county's library had only 3 copies, which were all checked out. In order for her to finish the book and write her summary before school, I decided to purchase the book instead. The retail book price was $15.00, more than I wanted spend. My husband suggested searching ebay for a cheaper price. With no hassle there was a seller for the book. I do not normally purchase in this manner because of fear of not knowing what condition items might arrive. Needless to say, the book was in excellant condition, the process was easy, fast and inexpensive, I would do it all over again.
