Wild Flower Children by Elizabeth Gordon

My dad was an English teacher, and he had some of Elizabeth Gordon's books, but he treasured them, and didn't let me touch them, and kept them locked in his bookcase. But occasionally, he would leave the room, and I would dash there, and he would catch me with one of her books in my hand. I never could finish to see all the pictures. When my dad died in 1999, I asked my mother for those books. My mother looked for them, but could not find them, someone else in the family, got to them before my mother would. Therefore, I set my mind to find them, and to purchase them. Would even be more special if they were my father's books. I love the Wild Flower Children, first because of the connection with my father, he taught me to treasure books. This book teaches me about the Wild Flowers, their names, their shapes, their colors, through lovely pictures and short poems. They express another time, when children desired to be lovely as the flowers in the field, when little girls dressed as little girls, with their pretty flowing dresses; when life was not so complicated and children had time to enjoy nature, running carefree in fields of flowers, and family members could enjoy each other... It made my day, when finally I could sit and read the book from cover to cover, poem by poem, picture by picture... avidly reading with my mind, my heart and my soul! The child in me is very alive and satisfied!
