  Wii Sports for Nintendo Wii

Wii Sports for Nintendo Wii

Nintendo Wii's Sports was a game that was
bundled with the Nintendo Wii.

The sports game is a combination of one to four
player games. The Wii remote and nunchuk are
used in a number of these games.

The games are:

Golf:

3D golf controlled by the Wii Remote. I find this
the hardest of the games as I am a golfer. As a result
I try to do my normal swing and I'm constantly swinging
to hard and hooking the ball. I also, like all other
gaming golf games, find the putting to be a challenge. :(
The first few holes are 3D renderings of the origional
Nintendo Golf game.

Tennis:

The tennis game is very fun to play. You can play as
a single or double.

Baseball:

I think my actual slow pitch swing has improved due to
playing Wii Baseball. I love the pitching and the hitting
aspect of this game. However, I find it stripped down as
you cannot field. :( In fact, if the AI fielder catches
the ball then you are automatically out. :/ The game is
realistic in the fact that when the computer throws a side arm
pitcher at you it is harder to hit! :) If you use the + symbol
as a pitcher you can aim the ball. I had a blast busting my
brother inside with a fastball into the hands! :)

Bowling:

This is a blast! This game hooked my 60 year old father
on the Wii. He has played 5 pin bowling in Canada and
has never 10 pin bowled before. He stands up, positions the
controller and proceeds to bowl 4 strike outs in a row.
Very realistic game and you can have 4 people playing it at a
time!

Boxing:

Clip in the Wii nunchuk and have fun. I love this game!
You can hit low, medium, or the high hit. Plus you get a work out
as you play! Really Fun!

You also have a training mode in which you can play three
different skill builders per mode.

You also have a Wii Fitness mode. Here you play 3 of the sports
challenges that focus on agility, balance, and speed. As
you play you can get your Wii Fitness age! You need to train
once per day in order to get this to work. My first age was 80!
Now I'm averaging in the mid 20's. ;) Not bad for a 33 year old. :)

Interesting Aspects:

You can play with your Mii that you created. Other Mii's that you
have on your system show up in the game as players or spectators.
As you gain skill level in games like boxing and tennis Mii's start
to show up in the crowd to watch you play!

Overall this is an excellent game to bundle with the Wii.
You are trained in the aspects of the Wii Remote's use. The
only critic I can find is some of the games are stripped down. :(
No fielding in Baseball and such. However, I'm assuming that
the other games that are actually ball games (MLB Baseball?) will
have this aspect.

5/5, an excellent free party game for yourself or friends!

If you are wondering what games after the purchase of a Wii needs, I suggest you ...

... for solo players:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Absolutely!), Super Mario Galaxy, No more heroes, trauma center, Okami (tip), Metroid Prime 3, de Blob, Wario Land The Shake Dimension and Super Paper Mario. And Resident Evil 4 when you use it on the Gamecube has not yet.

... for the party fun & Internet Gamer:
Mario Kart Wii, Wario Ware Smooth Moves, Mario Strikers Charged Football, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Animal Crossing and Big Brain Academy.

The game that brings families together

Ahh Wii sports, the game that brings families together. Recently I have been playing this a lot. Bundled with the Wii, the game is very addictive, just not very deep. This game is funner with 2 people.

As a special bonus, all the Miis that you make from the Wii you can play and it's just random.

Now, let's talk about each of the 5 games:

Golf - Well, golf is golf. The golf is what surprised me a lot. The game is actually a lot of fun, and you can get addicted to it very fast. The Wii mote is great with it, it feels like your actually swinging. The only difference is you can use one hand if you want.

Baseball - Now heres a game that really shines on Wii Sports- This is my pick out of the games. Now, you will probably need a friend to have the most fun. The swinging is basically like tennis, or you could use 2 hands if you wanted to. Sadly, there's no base-running. So all you do is swing and pitch, but it's still fun!

Boxing - It's too bad if you aren't getting a extra nunchuck with a extra controller because then you can't play 2 player. You block by putting your nunchuck and wii mote together around your body. Then just punch regular, simple as that. Too bad that they made it split screen, they could've just made it the whole screen.

Bowling - Realistic style and... you bowl! Anyways, there is a flaw in this game that I have found. Well I dunno if it's really a flaw, but if you bowl like a like a girl (you just put the wiimote between you legs and move it up), it's basically a strike.

Tennis - Ahh, another tennis game. I've so many memories of Mario Tennis on the N64. This just as great as baseball. Simple and fun, just swing. Thats about all there is to it. This game can be played 4 player. If you play 1 or 2 players you have to guys that do the same movements when you swing.

Closing Comments

Overall, Wii Sports is a very good game. This game shows what the Wii is capable of. I don't know if I would've gotten iit if it wasn't pañcked in, but, once you try it, you get hooked on it.

Ratings

Gameplay: 8.5/10
It's fun. Period.

Replay Value: 10/10
Family and friends will keep you coming back to Wii Sports.

Graphics: 6.0
Well...they're plastic dolls. But there are no slowdowns and the style is cool.

Sound: 8.0
Nice music, but not something as memorable as Zelda.

The game that madee the Wii Fun for Everyone!

The best game ever for the interactive platform. It not only revolutionized gaming but also increased the value of the wii console by at least ten folds. Without wii sports some could argue the wii would have been a complete failure due to is sub par graphics and less than innovative controls for some of its titles such as Mario World.

This was one of the best games on the Wii. My favorite is bowling, I can never get tired of it. The actions replicate real life and when you play with friends, the laughs don't stop. 4 player tennis is intense, just make sure you have enough room for everyone. All in all this bundled game will get you hooked with the Wii, play this first if you just got your system. Wii sports includes tennis, golf, boxing, bowling, and baseball. They are all fun games and even give you a bit of exercise in the process.

It is a family friendly collection of games. After years of sitting on my butt and button smashing wii sports proved to me in it fitness test that i need to go out more or be more active. I mean if you get a score that is way beyond your years you gotta move more. Good thing i have wii sports at least some movement is betting that not movement. Boxing is one of the best games and the worst games i played there. Good because it keeps me active. Bad because i am not active person.

Wii Sports, a Great Introductory Title to the Wii
Review created: 12/07/07
by:
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

So you’re looking to see which games to get with your Wii, eh? Well, don’t debate on getting this game too hard since it comes packaged with the Wii, unless of course you settle for a used Wii and the previous owner does not include the game.

When Windows was fairly new, Microsoft created games such as Minesweeper and Solitaire to help users get used to the new concept of a mouse. Nintendo is doing the same thing with Wii Sports. Nintendo is getting the players used to motion sensor controls to create a new style of game play.

I have yet to find anyone who has played Wii Sports and has gained any form of disappointment. Everyone, including me, thoroughly enjoyed the competition. Smiles complimented with screams of trash talk and cheer have accompanied many hours of play time. I still play this game today, naturally not as long as I used to, but still bring it out every once and a while.

Modes of Play:

Regular Play – Choose from any one of 5 sports to play versus the CPU or a friend. Tennis, Bowling, and Golf can have up to 4 players. This mode is pure competition.

Training – Choose from any one of 15 training mini games. It is possible to be awarded 4 different medals: a bronze, silver, gold, or platinum, depending on how well you do. This mode helps to develop skills to play the regular mode better as well as giving bragging rights.

Fitness – This mode is dependent upon how many times played with a certain Mii and what the previous score was. Upon selection of this mode 3 training mini games are randomly selected. Your score is determined by your performance.

Bottom line: I have played this game with many diverse people. It is a great way to bring people together. This is a great game with a great replay factor. The goal of becoming pro in all 5 sports, getting high records in each sport, getting AT LEAST all gold in training, and getting a fitness age of 20 should keep you busy for a while.

Wii Sports - the best game out for Wii
Review created: 08/18/07
by:
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This is the best game out for the Wii. You wont be able to find it at most game stores, because it only came bundled with new Nintendo Wiis. You can find more than a few here on eBay, but they arent cheap.

The games are alot of fun and there is so much variery. Wii Sports comes with 5 games in one:
Tennis - You swing to serve and return the balls and you can put your own topspin or downspin on the ball. This takes a bit of timing to hit the balls where you want them.
Bowling - My personal favorite. Lets you put left or right spin on the balls, just like real bowling. How fast you "bowl" will depend on how fast you throw the ball.
Baseball - Another game that takes alot of timing. Batting is alot of fun and you can crank homeruns like crazy. Just watch out for the nasty change-up pitch.
Golf - Where and how far your ball go all depend on swing speed and accuracy. Putting will take a little time to get used to, but very entertaining. The downside is that, there is only one course you can play.
Boxing - You may break a sweat playing this one. You have to dodge opponents' punches and counter-attack when they are weak. You can jab, uppercut, or give a hook to knock em down. This is the only of the 5 that require the numchuck attachment.

This is a fun game and everyone and even little kids can get into the action. A great family game all around!

  Wii Sports is amazing...
Review created: 07/26/07

Wii Sports

This is the crowning jewel on the Wii. If you own a Wii you must own this. Golf, Baseball, Bowling, Tennis, Boxing... need I say more???

Playing Wii Sports once sold me on the Wii and I haven't looked back... not only do you get to play games but you can also do some pretty sweet practice modes like a Home Run Derby, Strike Competition (where the number of pins grows each round eventually reaching 100+) or Heavy Bag work.

You can also take a daily fitness test to give your Wii and age... I went from 26 to 39 due to a pretty rough outing on some of the Tennis tests... :(

Final Verdict:

5/5

Worth Buying?: If you own one game for the Wii make it this one!!!

A sure family favorite!
-The Good
-Authenticity
-Gameplay
-The Exercise You Get
-Many Games
-Creative Use of the Wii Remote
-Creative Use of Miis
-Wii Fitness
-Family Fun for All
-The Bad
-One-a-Day Wii Fitness Only
-The Summary
-This is a good Once-a-Day (Mini-Sports) game. Use your Miis (a virtual version of yourself that you created on the Mii Channel of your Wii) to play through five different sports; Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Gold and Boxing. As you play, you gain Skill Points, eventually becoming a Pro a 1000 Points. This game is a lot of fun when you are playing with family and friends.
Aside from the five main sports, there are 15 mini-games (3 for each game) that emphasize use of your skills. These mini-games are a good way to get away from the regular games (if that is something you want to do).
Lastly, there is Wii Fitness. It tests you using three random mini-games. Depending on how well you do at these games, the game determines your Mii’s age. You can only use this feature once a day however.

The wii sports game is an excellent game. it has 5 sports games which include tennis golf bowling baseball and boxing. all of the games are very fun to play specially with someone else. my favorite game is bowling becaus you can actualyy spin the ball and make it curve. i like watching adults play this game because it looks as if they were pros. and it looks very real. the only bad thing about it is that in baseball you cant run around to bases. if you hit it too close, it is an automatic out.

Wii Sports is the Game For Mii
Review created: 10/02/09
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Having only bought the Wii a couple months ago, I'm still fairly new. This game came with my console and I'm so glad for it because it still has yet to be surpassed as #1 on my list. Sure, there's not a huge plot or great depth to this game, but when you just want a quick hour or so of fun this game is perfect.

The games can be played solo up to four players including training mode. I usually play in training mode when it's just me and play the actual games when I have a partner. For one person, my favorite is bowling. Out of all the games, I would say it's the most realistic with controls because you can move your Mii and angle the Wii remote to make the ball hook. For multiplayer, I like tennis. With this game you can either be on the same team or compete against each other. You can even be on both teams, but that's a little too confusing for me.

Although I usually do training mode solo, it's also a lot of fun to compete against someone else because you can try to beat each other's scores. I find golf (target practice) and baseball (home run derby) to be the most fun when you're playing for top scores.

Finally, there's a mode for finding out your Wii age. This is basically a test of three different training games, and it will only test you on the training games you've already tried. This is okay if you want to see where you are and keep track of how your "age" changes, but I don't think much about it and often forget that feature is there.

Overall, this is really a fun and simple game for all ages, friends, and family. I usually pair this up with Wii Fit for a little extra activity and variety.

A Great Example of What the Wii Can Do
Review created: 06/28/09
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Wii Sports is a great example of Nintendo's new hardware can do, and is a fantastic means to get non-gamers talking about and playing the Wii. What you're going to find in Wii Sports is a title that demonstrates the potential of the Wii remote, but at the same time doesn't have the graphical quality or depth of most major games available on the Wii or elsewhere.

Perfect for playing in hour-long bursts with friends. Even your non-gamer friends will be dazzled by the immediately intuitive controls and the imported Miis. But overall a big thumbs up.

Wii Sports is an excellent game (or set of games, depending on how you look at it.) But don't pay more than you have to. You can buy this brand new, direct from Nintendo for $15, plus $5 for shipping, plus your local sales tax. For me that ended up being just over $21! Go to Nintendo's web site, and get the toll free phone number for Customer Service. It is easy, takes about 5 minutes, and I had my brand new game in 4 days!

Bought the game not realizing that it came with the Wii system that I'd bought for my son. We played Wii Sports for hours and I mean for hours! It was so much fun that it became addictive! It was my first Wii experience so I was a little doubtful at first, but after seeing how the characters reacted to your body motions, I couldn't put it down! Bowling, golf, baseball, tennis and boxing are included on this disc. All I can say is get yourself Wii Sports and be prepared to spend several hours playing. One word of caution, stretch before playing, because you will be sore!

it was an item you can't find in a store, as it usually comes with the wii council when you buy it new. The case it came in is sturdy. works out well for those who buy used wii's on ebay or elsewhere. the - side is that it should come with instructions of operation. I was able to get these instructions by googling it on internet, but some people don't have axcess to internet and it wouldn't take to much trouble to include these in the package
