Wicked The Grimmerie by David Cote, Joan Marcus, Stephen Schwartz, Winnie Holzman (2005, Hardcover)

This book would probably have been one of my wife's favorites but alas we never received it and ebay has done nothing to assist us in getting it or our money back. Now, it is shame on me for not believing the myriad of negative feedbacks left for buy-media.net, but it is also shame on ebay for allowing such a disreputable seller continue to deal on it's website for as long as they did. Had ebay pulled buy-media.net after the first 10 or 20 negative feedbacks, I probably would have gone elsewhere and received this wonderful back scenes story of the play Wicked.

This is a must for any WICKED fan!!!! Beautiful photos, actor profiles, song lyrics, a fabulous history/bio on Frank Baum and his body of works,....and so much more! If you've seen the show, you'll love it and if you plan on seeing the show, it's great to read beforehand! Can't say enough good things! My teenager loves it and so do I!

Has lyrics to many of the songs and so much information of the "behind the scenes". Referrals back to the original movie and how Wicked came about. I recommend it to anyone!

if you are a HUGE Wicked fan like i am it is worth the money you pay for it! I love to know all the behind the scene details and getting a closer look at the play, costume, and everything that makes Wicked so wicked. From Charater bios to how to make Elphaba green, to Glind's bubble machine and stage set-up it covers it all! it truly is a must for every die-hard Wicked fan!

I wish every Broadway show had a book this detailed to go with it. It's a fantastic book. I have been a fan of "Wicked" for about 3 years, and just recently purchased "The Grimmerie" because the show is coming to a city near me and I got tickets. This book does not disappoint. This book is greatly illustrated, and has the stories of some of the most popular musical directors, producers, writers, lyricists, songwriters and actors in the business today. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes the play or even Gregory McGuire’s novel (although the novel is a bit darker).

I had recently bought this same book for my best friend. we are both WICEED fanatics and when i gave hers to her for her birthday, I realized how badly i wanted one for myself! its a great item to own!

If you've seen the show and have been simply blown away by it, you will want this book. It covers all aspects of the show with all the people involved, great photography and it has a antiqued, "battered" design style that is meant to replicate the Grimmerie that Elphaba uses in the show. I just love this book! I saw the show in San Francisco, and we're planning on a repeat visit! OMG I wish they would hurry and make it into a movie already!!!

I had seen the book back in sept. at Barnes & Noble but it was pricey.I had seen my nieces copy and decided I wanted it too.I was glad to get it at a discount price.The pictures are just beautiful and so colorful.It gives you the whole history of how Wicked the musical got its beginnings and how the actors were casted.This is about the original Broadway production.It is worth every penny.If you know a Wicked fan make sure you get them a copy.The Grimmarie is the book Elphaba uses to create the curses she uses on people.Again great purchase and a great book.

While this book was sold as "used", it was in great condition. I saw the play Wicked shortly after purchasing this book and they were selling the same thing for $40!

As my granddaughter would say OMG! I actually saw this book in New York for $50. Amazing to find it for only $20. It is so awesome you have to see it to believe it. I have not finished reading it yet but it is a memory I will not forget. I had the opportunity to see the original Broadway cast and they are all there. How many people got the pleasure of seeing Joel Grey singing and dancing as the wizard at 71 years old. At the back of the book is the dialogue from the play. If you enjoyed the Broadway play, you must have this book! You will love it!

This book was everything I hoped it would be. A great gift the "Wicked" fan in your life. It arrived in good shape and fast. The only thing slow about this, was me and my review of the book. I haven't finished it yet, but am sure I will not be disappointed.

I have seen the musical WICKED twice and it's amazing! This book is a MUST HAVE if you are a Wicked fan at all. I bought it for my 7 year old daughter but I have to admit, I read it more than she does! Great price from a great seller!

I saw the musical "Wicked" in May 2006, and decided to give "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire a try. One good thing about this book is that is was so different from the play that one doesn't spoil the other.
The story revolves around the life of Elphaba, a green child born to parents living in the land of Oz. Through her childhood and school years, you watch her deal with the problems of being different than everyone else, as well as having a family that is less than functional. Her college years link her up with others who have the same subversive thoughts and purposes, and it leads her to a life committed to overturning the evil rule of the Wizard. The book ends at the same place as the movie, with the death of the witch at the hands of Dorothy. But what you find is that Elphaba's quest for the ruby slippers was really nothing more than an attempt to reclaim a family heirloom, and that she really just wanted to be left alone to live out her life in peace.
Overall, I suppose the book is worth a read for those who like their fantasies dark, but I feel that I must add this advice: If you have seen the light-and-airy Broadway musical that was (VERY, VERY loosely) based upon this story, you may be disappointed and even bored with the serious tone and bleakness throughout this book.

Just like the play itself.I love the book.(even though it cost me $40.)It has great color pictures of the cast.Great for ANY wicked fan!!
