Wicked by Gregory Maguire (2007, Paperback, Reprint)

this is a awsomely fun and sometimes altogether frightful look at the life and times of the missunderstood, mistreated an incredibly awkward green skined wicked witch of the west, her sister (witch of the east), her father, mother, nanny and her friends including bog and a boarding school friend named sait Galenda (northern witch). this story is a biography of sorts for a fictional caracter and takes you on a jurney from her munchkinland childhood, too boarding school, to the emerald city, to the vinkus and finally to her death by the hand of the evil wizard of Oz with the help of the dim wited dorthey Gail and her lion, tin man and scarcrow friends!!! You'll soon find out that wicked is just a state of mind and evil is in the eye of the beholder. This book reminds us of the importance of never beleaving untile you've heard both sides of testory and judged for yourself!!!!

Great book! It's a "MUST READ" before you see the fantastic show on Broadway! However, if you've already seen Wicked on Broadway (or anywhere else), this book is a great companion piece to the live version.

I'm only a quarter way through with it, and keep hoping it gets better, having a hard time getting through it. Decided to buy it because I plan on seeing the show this month. I hear the show is great, but the book is not an easy read. I have a feeling it will get better if I can keep reading.

This book took a really long time to come in. I liked that the book was in good condition and that it had some nice stuff on it that I liked and blah blah blah blah blah. It was definitely NOT what I expected!! but it was a great book to read!! I really enjoyed it once I got over my inital shock! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading:-)

I bought the book because I went to see the play at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood, CA and I loved it. One of the best plays I have ever seen. Since I loved the play, I wanted to read the book and see if the book was just as good as the play. The book is just as great as the play. I'm glad I bought the book.

I absolutly LOVED reading Wicked by Gregory Maguire. The language he used really captivated me and I never wanted to put the book down! It gave me an entirely new perspective on the wicked witch of the west and now I have been thinking about other characters deemed to be evil and what the story really could have been. Out of the hundreds of books I've read, I will only claim to love very few, and Wicked is one of them. Now I want to read other books by Gregory Maguire to see if they are just as good. Definitly a recommended book!!!

I saw the play this past summer during my first New York vacation. Two of my fondest memories as a child was playing the Wicked Witch of the West in a 5th grade play, and the annual watching of Wizard of Oz on TV. The play presented an interesting alternative to what you thought you knew about the Wicked Witch. The book is just as inviting and interesting. I am very glad I made the purchase.

I've enjoyed listening to audio books for years and love the creative expansion Gregory Maguire afforded an old favorite - "The Wizard of OZ." This adult-version of the "wicked" witch's view of the goings on of OZ and its surrounding populations is very entertaining. The story fortunately doesn't include too much time with Dorothy and her trio, just the well known witch-melting ending (not that I'm spoiling the ending). Maguire lets us get to know the not so wicked green-skinned Elphaba; her childhood and schooldays, through her many adult challenges. Maguire set the scene nicely for his next book by introduing her son, Liir... Great book!!

This is my favorite book! I can not wait for the musical to hit Utah next Spring! I completely relate to Elphaba and the story is just a great read!

My daughters were waiting anxiosly to read this book- we ordered the sequal from a different person and received in 3 days. Daughter enjoyed the book- 2nd is reading now. I would have expected faster delivery- disappointed.
