Synopsis A picture book retelling of a folktale of the Bini People of Nigeria. A long time ago the sky was very close to earth, and when the people got hungry, they could just reach up and take a bit of sky. However, the wastefulness of the people eventually angers the sky, who warns the King of the Bini People that they must learn to be more respectful. When one selfish woman refuses to learn her lesson and continues to be wasteful, the sky is forced to move away from the people forever. Color illustrations accompany the text.
The sky was once so close to the Earth that people cut parts of it to eat, but their waste and greed caused the sky to move far away.
